Those tires would only be replaced if he HAD to start on them and they would be deemed unsafe. And it would simply be according to the rules. It would be as unfair and unsportsmanlike as lucking out with a pitstop under the safety car. Or being lucky with a red flag and getting p1. Or being allowed to unlap and repair your car under a red flag. (I.e not unsportsmanlike at all)
I mean exactly THOSE tires, with that tiny "massive" flat spot. If they were replaced with a brand-new set - that woldn't be fair IMO

Jos Verstappen just mentioned on tv RBR is racing a setup they never tried before and needed some finetuning. Only at Q3 it all came together, basically what Max said. He also expected Max and Lewis stay close together during the race.

Anyone a suggestion as to what is so drastically different in their setup this weekend?

Looks like temperature will be 2 degrees cooler than qualifying.

No doubt and in a tremendous way. The only 8th titles Championship winner.

He won't be first in that situation. MS lost his eight title in 2006 already

Even though he is starting on softs, it would still have been a nice bonus to have some brand new mediums to use in the race if needed.

From what I’ve read Pirelli have not swapped them. Meaning they are basically useless as they did two runs and also had a small flat spot.

Max therefore has used softs and two new sets of hard for the race.
The pirelli diagram did not show any new hards for VER, and 1 set of new meds and hards left for HAM.

Whatever FOM showed during qually 3 was different to what is on here.

Just hope Max rears will last, I feel they will be a problem in that hairpin to the straight. No rears is no topspeed, a sitting duck.

Apparently it's colder and more windy. Should mean the mediums will be harder to bring to temp and also the softs will be more durable, right?
