I am not expecting Lewis to do anything else than start his holidays and "let the talks happening". He has been cool enough with every sh...i from Redbull drivers, even congratulating them. He fought back and did everything he has to do to secure a 8th WCC for Mercedes, which was not easy with Valteri second part of season form . SO it is up to team to decide to go for it or withdraw.

If he takes his 8th WDC after that, it will also be well deserved because he was there on top with his silver arrow not behind Ricciardo. Then the WDC will be decided on the track next year under competent FIA instance.

So now you can overtake under the safety car as long as you give the place back before the safety car line

Sounds like a bad precedent to me
Why? Who was hurt? Who was affected?max was ahead for a millisecond due to lewis braking, no consequence at all. What's the problem
Hamilton was hurt, verstappen should not be able to pull up side by side at all because it stops Hamilton having the ability to clean/warm up his tires and control/start the race as the leader of the race has the right and responsibility to do so.

This season has been officiated with mere mediocrity and inconsistency... I would accept Max Verstappen as champion as long as we get Michael Masi out... that was a championship handed to him on a plate... pretty Netflix like for me.

I don’t fully agree with the safety car overtaking and my guess would be if it would be any other race, it would have been a slam dunk. I can just see Verstappen next safety car right beside the car in front “we’ll, the rules allow it” kinda way. But. Stewards decided.

As for the other appeal, that one should be dismissed. The FIA ffed up and should have finished the race under the SF, but they didn’t. Their fault, not Verstappen’s fault so he should not be punished.

As a long time supporter of Lewis Hamilton:
Congratulations to Max Verstappen with your first world title!

I think this will be the end for Masi either way.

Looks like the protest was not upheld. Now I wonder if Mercedes will go to court.

Mercedes are right to bring a lawyer. With how these regulators are behaving you need lawyers.

Nothing against Max, but I don't see how his fans are accepting to win like this. In fact I don't even see how Horner wants to win this way either.

I await the result of protest regarding the breach.

They should not be allowed to influence the sport in this way, more so by breaching regulations, or abusing power, in a last minute bid to favour a competitor.
I do not think this will be resolved today. It may well go to a court house. The FIA cannot sanction themselves.
For Sure!!

What flawed logic is this? They ffed up and punished Lewis, and gifted Max the win. Why should Lewis be punished instead? Also it's not really a punishment if the win should never have been his in the first place.

Like if the bank accidentally transfers money into your account, realizes their mistakes and then you have to give it back. That's not really a punishment to you is it?

I find it really odd that RB retired Perez, it’s the last lap of the last race. I don’t want to put on the tin foil hat but I can’t think of any reason you would give up a podium under the safety car of the final race. It’s not to save components that’s for sure.
He may have been possibly underfueled in order to give him a faster car to help Verstappen with.
