Good spot! Do you remember what make of truck it was (now that McLaren's 5-year Volvo contract has ended?)
Also looks like a LOT more greyish black on both the truck and the merch. I think we will see more of that on the car as well (though Zak has already confirmed that it will not replace the blue)
I could be wrong , but that looks like a Mercedes tractor unit.

Yes, I am that sad.
I think they know a guy that knows a guy at Mercedes trucks that does them a good deal
We have built some of their trucks where I work. We did the FIA trucks and Caterham as well (Toyota too, if I remember correctly).
Perspective - Understanding that sometimes the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.

Apparently Zak Brown spoke at the Oxford Union today and was happy to share some goals for the team this season.

Mainly:
  • He predicts Ferrari to be much more competitive this year, and for McLaren to be off the pace to Ferrari in comparison to last year, but closer to Mercedes and Red Bull (so remaining 4th)

Goal is to close the gap, win a couple of races, make it into Q3 as much as possible

New investments last year has allowed for the construction of a new wind tunnel and simulator, to be completed in 2023 - he predicts that the first year that McLaren will be able to build a championship contending car is 2024.
For an overall summary

So don't get your hopes too high for this season people! Although, I am not gonna like, the "win a couple of races" goal being there is making me think they are somewhat optimistic on their chances. I wasn't expecting them to fight for the championship this year anyway, but if they actually manage to win >=1 races, I think it would be a decent season.
It's about managing expectations.
Zak and Andreas have been doing all this 'low profile game' since 2020.
Too much 'hype' on Ferrari revival to the front grid, some saying 'a dangerous' team to watch, and so on.
For me, 2022 is a clean sheet. We will only know the packing order until Q3 qualifying session in Bahrain.
Just enjoy up coming team launches coming days and weeks with those new aero look and tech.

Any ideas? I am guessing it's some kind of a marketing thing. Maybe new sponsor. Or maybe something like someone had a baby? Is Seidl married/with partner?

If it's marketing, I dislike that type of hyping.

I'm waiting for a sponsor announcement, maybe a big one.

Maybe "tuned" is a hint. Perhaps a return of Tooned.

With that emoji, could be Valentine related?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

That is interesting what it is doing there, is merc producing anything for their f1 program in Germany? Like mentioned windtunnel maybe? Or, which external company is it mclaren use for their complete car dyno test?

AVL i think the company is called, its in 8020 Graz, Austria, could that be it, its one of the offical main trucks, not their sec hand support trucks…
Not because of Mercedes… The team is still using the Toyota Wind Tunnel that is in Cologne, so probably a trip to work on the aero.
no.. this truck was basically in south Germany, (Baden-Wuettenberg) Cologne is north west, a good 4 hours drive..

Slightly off topic has anyone listened to the gypsy tales podcast with Daniel ? I get the feeling he's not going to be in F1 for much longer

Now that is good news. They didn't hype it up for no reason!

Great. Now let's build a car for champions.

You got to feel for Ricciardo. This is the third time in a row that his team setting his young teammate up for the future of the team. (Verstappen, Ocon and now Norris).
