McLaren MCL36 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Bargeboards are still here.

Very short distance from the front wheels to the front of the sidepods. Interesting.
Not bargeboards.

Looks pretty legit to me. Leaning into the gulf livery a bit with the lighter blue. Very clean and striking design, and does fit with some media images we've seen. Be happy if it was.

I think she was talking about the Extreme E car

if its real:

inward-to-outward curving front wing end plates.

Similar square end tapered nose to the Haas.

Also broad large conventional looking side pods, again like Haas.

slightly more squared off bottom wing plane on the rear wing, as opposed to curved.

Slim profile nose (underneath) like the AMR22

Missing brake ducts in this render… hiding something?

If it is the real car, those sidepods look even smaller than the Haas (which of course was an early render).

I suspected more of the cars to look like this than the Aston Martin, but I’m reserving judgement until it’s actually revealed, and further judgement until Bahrain.

This is actually the first car that is looking like how I expected them to look. I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing though!

It's certainly quite good looking, I prefer the aesthetic compared to the Haas & AM.

Aside the sidepod inlets, to me it looks generic AF.

IF that's the McLaren the hope they'll be challenging on the title front would seem slim.

Interesting. Seeing things you don’t like in that render?

Probably not worth reading into for another 30 minutes or so.
