Birds twist their wing because it improves laminar flow, turbofan engines made a big step in performance when they started using 3d twisted aerofoils, if it's good enough for G.E. it's good enough for F1f1rules wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 21:30interesting layout to help create outwash, see how much the upper element twist, and how the three upper elements closer to the endplate almost merge

I agree with you on this, I think the fact they said they would be ready to adapt the car and keeping everything at launch very basic and minamum amount of parts made. They also mentioned that an update package is being made for the first race. Be interested to see if they manage to get any updates here for first test and if they can adapt major elements of the car for the second test that they want to see improvement in.
Can see it a little better hereSmallSoldier wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 22:29New winglet behind the entrance to the Tunnels

The little bulge on the nose cone makes me think it's a camera of some sortMarc.W wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 18:34Is that a camera on the floor or something permanent?

Could very well be… Seems an odd location to have a winglet and it been allowedMarc.W wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 22:31Can see it a little better hereSmallSoldier wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 22:29New winglet behind the entrance to the Tunnels

Looking at this image of the side pods there is a very defined angle where the vertical straight edge meets the shoulder of the side pod. Doesn’t seem right to me. Could we expect an undercut to come in as of Wednesday? This could be just a filled out basic panel fitted to disguise the true shapef1rules wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 21:30interesting layout to help create outwash, see how much the upper element twist, and how the three upper elements closer to the endplate almost merge

It's effectively there to replace the outwash effect of the old bargeboards. By using that space to package some cooling, it gives the car a strong downwash over the sidepod and into a very spacious rear floor area. None of these cars seem right, because it's a new formula, but this approach makes sense to me.Tombola37 wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 23:02Looking at this image of the side pods there is a very defined angle where the vertical straight edge meets the shoulder of the side pod.
