McLaren MCL36

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Time to over-react about anything shown on this video ...

Anyway, it did have kind of a nice front bite to it, but I am pretty sure that's because he is going 40% of the normal pace you would do around there xd.

On a side-note, with that onboard camera being so high up, and with the sidepods pushed so much further forward this year, the onboard view looks so weird. At least for me.

It's either a camera, or a sensor. That definitely seems like an illegal winglet if it was one.

I hope this camera angle is to stay (W13 used the same).

Did anyone notice those "dents" on the blue part of the halo? Almost looks like damage.. Didn't notice any of the teams have something similar this or last year.

Could just be an optical illusion but the McLaren looks short in this pic

Pretty sure it's a gopro strapped to the roll hoop so it won't be around for anything but their filming days

Is it normal for the halo to be all bent?

Heh, maybe the panel is a bit too thin (or, at this point, not yet made of carbon but of aluminium or so (paper?)?

Someone probably leaned on it, which it isn’t designed for (the panel, not the halo of course). New car stuff, learning where to lean and where not..

I think it's just vinyl wrap covering the winglet attachment points.

Why do all the 2022 cars feature an angled/rounded cockpit?

Because sidepods are much further forward for aero reasons. They are much more visible in the tcam for that reason.
