The Red Bull looks pretty advanced doesn’t it, that scares me a bit! Something about their car and the Mercedes that looks to have a few more tricks on at this early stage.

No guarantee those tricks will work of course but they do stand out by a mile those two.

Mark Hughes' trackside view:

I'm out at the final chicane where the cars are visibly slower than even the slowest ones used to be. They are slower through the preceding turn too, understeering out of there, even the Red Bull, then slow and awkward into the left of the chicane from turn-in all the way to the apex.

I'm going to have a look at some faster parts of the track now.
I'm not sure how relevant this is. They are running 6 seconds off the pole pace at the moment - ofcourse they will be slower. First day - everyone running aero rakes. They probably haven't found a setup that works and are doing aero work.

I believe that there was only ever going to be 1 pre season test for 2022. Bahrain put their hand up, said they'd host it and here's some money.

The teams then requested additional pre season testing be permitted, which it was. FOM & Bahrain already had a contract though to host the only testing for 2022 and this would mean all eyes on Bahrain when peoples eyes were on F1 2022 cars.

JordanMugen is only stating the facts in that response. If you wish to ignore facts then that's ok but he's certainly not playing a game.

I don't think anyone likes the closed off feel considering what we've become accustomed to over the past few seasons.
I doubt that even FOM are playing a game here, if they've signed exclusivity rights for Bahrain then that isn't something Jordan can be blamed for.
Tbh, this sort of commentary just sounds like you are making excuses for FOM.
But all I've done is present what I believe to be the facts in chronological order. Please don't take that to think I actually like the situation. I (think) understand what has happened, that's all.
Let's have some more facts - We've had Barca testing for years and years. We've also had 6-8 testing days at 1/2 venues. Covid happened so the days were dropped to 3days @ 1 venue on the basis of covid cost impacts & carrying matured 2020 car designs through to 2021 with small mods. It was also the case that originally, there was meant to be an additional test in the November (2020) at Abu Dhabi with the 'next gen' (2021) cars for Pirelli.

Now admittedly, Bahrain was on the books as a test venue for last year. And FOM are indeed free to cut things, do exclusivity deals and so on.

But the ire here is to do so, and pretend that it only ever really was one test and that Barca is this oddball/extra test when the reality is that Barca and two sets of testing is the norm. Is it a fact that there only ever was one test, or are we creating facts to fit with the party line? I think the latter is why people are criticising.

Surprised Seb isn't doing the same - he usually has a good look at other cars in parc ferme.

Didn't he stayed on track? It looks more like a blocked wheel

I wasn't pretending and since you pointed this out I did go to review the original 2022 sporting regs (v1) and that also mentions 2 tests. I apologise for propogating this, I'm sure I'd read it somewhere credible before though.

Certainly, thanks. It also costs a lot of money for FOM to not bring full outside broadcast facilities for live broadcast, and that is something they only started bringing to tests recently. To take the footage and edit it together afterwards will obviously cost FOM a lot less. :)

Do you think the Alpine can be the real Game Changer once #ELPLAN is released? Nice front and back wing that remind red bull ones
