Red Bull RB18

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Similar design direction with the side pods to the AT car. I like the beam wing arrangement and the unique use of inlet throat strakes.

That's just caused by the car rolling in the corner. On the full car image, you can see a good amount of lock applied yo the steering wheel and the driver's head is turned / tilted in to the corner.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

It's just the car rolling in the corner. The outer floor edge naturally drops.

Might be roll we're seeing yes :) still significant for the functioning of the floor I would say.

If there are people interested, I could make an effort and examine the RB18-style sidepods as well. Although it's fairly clear what their design direction is and what they are doing in different areas...
It would be an interesting exercise if you have the time. =D>

IMHO... This car is 100% developed as a front runner.
All the details with kinks and dents trying to have a perfect airflow to maximise the aero package normally only works to it's maximum when the air is flowing as intended.

All the cars are designed to run in clear air, no team designs their car to ‘work especially well in traffic’, so whilst your comment is accurate, it could be said of every car.

Imho the lower beam wing elements main task is to help extract airflow from diffuser as much as possible instead of producing downforce on its own.

Rear brake ducts blowing the underside of the wing?

Yes please, also beam wing interaction with diffuser, and front area of floor.
Your efforts will be greatly appreciated.

It would be badass if you could compare the two different Beam Wing concepts.

While the Red Bulls might speed up some more air upwards by compressing it bewteen the two planes it also seems to be more draggy.. (at least in my head... :) )
