Max signed a new +5 years contract! Will be soon announced.

He wouldn't do that if he didn't believe in the strenght of the Honda PU and his team.
For that kind of money, he will even believe in aliens. #-o
Indeed

Can't fail to see some parallels between this signing and Jacque Villeneuve's career. Both won championships young and then committed to some team long term and then just got stuck there without any career options in other cars. And then became a nobody.

I would have thought Max committed to just 2 to 3 years and look for a seat in some other top team.

Well where else is he going to go? Mercedes has Russell, Ferrari has Lelerc and Sainz, McLaren has Lando. He's kind of stuck there realistically.

He does get treated like the second coming of Christ though, and Red Bull ARE one of the best teams on the grid, so it's not a bad place to be!

I thought all those above teams had 2 seats ?
Unless he has burned bridges with other top teams, Mercedes with its current management would never take him and also would block him in other merc engine cars (just like Honda blocking alonso in all racing series).
So yeah he is stuck here, similar to Jacque Villeneuve's career.
And any team without an in house engine manufacturer or factory engine team in f1 has no gaurentee it will have continued success like Ferrari, Mercedes, renat

Horner: "To have Max signed through to the end of 2028 is a real statement of intent. Our immediate focus is on retaining Max’s World Championship title, but this deal also shows he is a part of the Team’s long-term planning."

Max: "I really enjoy being part of the Oracle Red Bull Racing Team, so choosing to stay to the 2028 season was an easy decision. I love this Team and last year was simply incredible, our goal since we came together in 2016 was to win the championship and we have done that, so now it’s about keeping the number one on the car long-term."
Manager Vermeulen: "Future plans Red Bull look very good."

"That this would happen is not rocket science. After the world title was won, we had very good, natural conversations. I have been in Austria twice with Helmut Marko and internally Max, Jos and I have also had good discussions. Red Bull's future plans look very good. When I see the fighting spirit within the team, it fits us perfectly,"

"Formula 1 is now entering a new period. Then it's not crazy at all to look at the long term," Vermeulen tells the Dutch morning newspaper. "The vision goes beyond the next five races. We know exactly what's coming."

Or maybe he has burn his bridges and the other two big teams don’t want him? or like you said Red Bull is the place to be with all the money rolling in. And plan to produce a complete F1 car in-house .
Max is simply totally in love with Red Bull. He mentioned several times he wanted to stay for the next 10 to 15 years at Red Bull, that's the equivalent of a mariage proposal.

I think there's an element of this. Despite what some people like to push, I do not believe Merc or Ferrari would risk signing him. He's a very forthright character and I think RBR is the best suited place for him.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

At least Perez knows where he stands this year. He's now been publicly confirmed as playing second fiddle to Max.

As someone who has a beard, I wish he'd have a shave. That patchy stubble look isn't great as it's neither one thing or the other. Clean or beard, that's the choice. 8)

I like people who tell everyone that, I give a choice or no choice. :) I am lazy to shave frequently, so I leave patchy stubble often.

Shaving is a binary task, either you do it or you don't.

So he is basically was birthed by RedBull, grown by RedBull, And now he's is married to it for life.

I understand why the salary is that high now.

For me it’s quite logical he signed a long extension with RedBull. Team hopping for the top drivers has been out of fashion for quite some time and when they do, it doesn’t work well (Alonso, Vettel). Long term relationships are the way to go.

How sneaky of Redbull to give £40m deal for Max without informing Helmut Marko, otherwise he would have blocked it since he thought a similar deal for Lewis was too expensive for formula one!

It will be embarrassing if Perez rides close to Max this year. Apart from number 2 contracts, you can guarantee certain knobs will be turned to ensure this does not happen.

Nothing in either of their careers suggests that it is likely. Is there good evidence that RB have slowed down a second driver purposefully to make their No.1 look better in the past?

Do you pose this... what seems to be a fantasy of yours in order to suggest RB will do something shady?

This isn't contributing anything! Meaningless fantastical speculation that could be left unsaid
