Oof, it hurts seeing anything F1 related today T_TALO_Power wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 21:33McLaren was bad in all sectors:

James Key literally said the car is performing as expected, there is nothing else to unlock. It is fundamentally a poor designCrazyCarperF1 wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 22:41I'm not worried yet, its early days and some teams will have their cars more optimised than others, i expect it may take 4-5 races to judge where we stand.
As far as reasons go for why the car is slow, "lack of grip" it's not exactly descriptive.
Ron really missed the mark with those words, but to be honest, I kind of miss the team being a bit bold in their predictions. I feel like they no longer let out words of encouragement like that out of fear of failure.
So you are ready to throw the towel after round 1 only?bauc wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 23:52*** LONG POST AHEAD***
Okey, so I did not want to write right away and I've waited till now to calm my self down and think with a cold head.
First and foremost, I'm hugely disappointed as many of you are here, I've spend the past 30-40 minutes and I've read every comment here since qualy and I've also been trough the team statements, interviews ect and all I can say is that I share your disappointment frustration and feeling of being let down yet again from the team.
This is my 25th season as a F1 fan, from race 1 I got hooked up with Mclaren and never left this team, but it all feels like a de ja vu to me now. We've been here in 2009, 2014, 2017.... and now yet again..... every big rule reset we fall behind, we drop the ball and we are following other teams designs to make our car more competitive, and this is what hurts the most. I know that I'm might be overreacting at the moment a bit, and I know that a bad set up can set you back 1 second per lap in some circuits and vice versa and given what we've seen so far I don't think we are the 2nd team from the back in terms of performance but I can say that from this perspective, a P5 in constructors championship would be a achievement for us this year. Let me go back to the ''we drop the ball and we are following other teams designs to make our car more competitive'' - again this is what hurts me the most, the Mclaren, the team that I fall in love with was the team that every year brought some interesting development or a concept, even when it did not work it still made my heart full as I knew they were pushing to the limit, and my hopes for this season were so high, we had all the elements in place, maybe not for a championship year but for a solid 3rd place with 3-4 victories in place... and to see the team fall like this in pre-season test, to miss the very fundamentals in terms of heat distribution and cooling and then to be unable to do any long runs and set up work is just unacceptable.
Now, I see this season as a make or brake for Mclaren and its ''new'' structure in place under Zak that made us smile a lot more in the past few years than what we were used to. We either going to make a decent comeback, understand this car and develop it to a P5/P4 contender or our team will collapse and we will see people starting to leave as soon as next season. This endeavor will show the true colors of this new PAPAYA Mclaren F1 team, it will give us a sing if we can really count on them or we will wait for a better times to come in the next 3-4 seasons or more, and also this season will show who is a true fan of Mclaren and who only joined to ride the hype trend that was created around this new Mclaren team.
At the end, I don't think the Mercedes engine is the main problem, but it certainly is a part of the puzzle, especially here in Bahrein, and only time will tell what that will bring, it is something that Mclaren has no control of.
In Ron's own words, WE WILL WIN AGAIN
The only questions is, will we be the force behind it? Will Mclaren again be the team that pushed the development limits or will we just follow others until eventually we get things done right.
Never, I still have faith, I'm just disappointed that we cant dictate the development path anymore, its what I miss the most about the Mclaren of old. This car has potential, like I've mentioned above, I don't think we are the 2nd slowest team on the grid, give it more time and the pace will come, but I expected a race winning pace this season, thus my disappointment for the lack of at the moment.McL-H wrote: ↑20 Mar 2022, 00:07So you are ready to throw the towel after round 1 only?bauc wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022, 23:52*** LONG POST AHEAD***

Oof man. My expectations were for them to still be the 4th fastest team and I am still bitter. With those sort of expectations you were really setting yourself up for disappointment.bauc wrote: ↑20 Mar 2022, 00:11Never, I still have faith, I'm just disappointed that we cant dictate the development path anymore, its what I miss the most about the Mclaren of old.
