I don't agree. One push lap wouldn't make a difference in the end with Sainz being so far back. Either you try and go for first place, or you're second in any case. As it turned out they didn't even try it. Very un-redbull like.
I doubt it would have made much difference, Verstappen would have wrecked his tyres and Leclerc would have come back at him. It's pretty clear Red Bull were managing several different issues on Max's car throughout the race, the aim was likely to get the car home with a decent haul of points. That's very Redbull, if they can't win they will aim to minimise the points loss.
What gets me is Max's outlook pre and post race
He doesn't really sugarcoat anything
There was nothing from him that was a precursor to all the issues that could show up on Sunday
During the race it was like he was blindsided by everything that happened; the lack of pace/tyre deg, the brake issues etc
He was just kinda stunned that the car he thought he had did not materialise
Perez was complaining about the brake issues after FP3 and I know, because Horner said it, that Perez was testing different setups to Max then
I can't imagine RB not telling Max they were going to set up the car a certain way and these things were the issues..
It's like he was in a different world and it all came crashing down
Just very very weird
