I for one am entirely happy with the cars being 50kg heavier to not kill drivers in crashes like these.

Which part of the car got those 50kg? Also aditional 50kg means that cars slam with more force due to being heavier. The real question is what is the ratio between this two factors.

I'd be very surprised if the chassis isn't cracked, but they do bring a spare tub (unconstructed) I believe. But with likely a concussion at the minimum, for Mick to go racing would be too dangerous.

I think that was the gearbox or possibly the power unit and whole rear end which has broken off.

I don't think Mick will be able to race tomorrow, the car is totally destroyed.

Whomever designed this course was hell bent on killing a driver. They literally hit that kerb and take off facing the side of the track.

I think F1 should build a cleaning car from a Toyota Hilux like pick-up or vw transporter like van for cleaning tracks. These can be fast enough to reach dirty area. cleaning so much debris with bare hand is not good for a technology racing. It is more important then safety car(they can use any car in every country). So they take cleaning car/lory/transporter or whatever it is to every race instead of sc car.
They have work on to shorten everything to start racing as soon as possible. they completely ignore this area. I don't want to wait long cleaning times or long sc periods.

Safety cell is the majority of weight increase, then wheels. It sure is a balance, do you think FIA didn't run the math on that?

The rear section just ripped apart when they were lifting it with the crane.

They need an spare chassis… I don’t think they can repair this car… Even for safety precautions, after such a hard hit, the chassis, the tub, could be damaged… A lot of assessment would be needed

Yeah, that car isnt getting fixed overnight. Unless they have a spare monocoque/survival cell. Imagine they will but it'll be a full car rebuild

Would a reserve driver be allowed to race if the car was fixed but Mick wasnt feeling good to race?
