They increase the lift/drag ratio.

That seems like a plausible assumption Scotracer, can you elaborate a bit on how that is acheived, technically I mean?

Do you mean a hole?

What is a hold?

I think they "bleed" off the excess air on the wing to reduce drag especially when cornering.. Just my guess.

Isn't that just the midwing mount point?

assuming the topic is meant to say 'holes' or 'slots', then I understand that they are there to produce downforce when the car is turning and the incoming air is at a yaw angle to the wing. the endplate acts like a 'wall' to the flow when the flow reaches the end of the wing, and instead of having to spill over the top of the endplate, the air can be channelled through to slots to create downforce more effectively.

The answers can be found in other threads, Mc Laren MP4/24 aero-mech development in 2009 viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6599, and Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes MP4-24 viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6277

REAR WING

1.Double pillars connecting wing to chassis
2.Gurney flap
3.The main profile is bending upwards in its central part to increase downforce production on its extremities close to the endplates .
4.The flap is separated from the rest of the endplates by a deep cut so as to provide a cleaner exit for the airflow under the main sculpted profile .
5.The horizontal shark gills reduce turbulence generated by the impact of the airflow where they attach to the main profile
