Why is their rear wing mainplane/endplate so much thicker than ferrari or the other teams (regardless of AoA)?
Does Ferrari have a trick manufacturing method to allow for a thinner profile or is there an aero reason behind it?

I suspect Mercedes are perfectly able to make it thinner if they wanted and it is how it is for a specific aero reason.

The fatter edges are less sensitive to stalling.

Probably. I thought they may try to create a pressurisation zone there. Directly under their sidepod inlet Ferrari creates a pressurisation zone that propagates fowards... maybe Mercedes is trying to do something similar.Hard to say. These profiles probably do not achieve this and you are right.

No its to break up the boundary layer to ensure appropriate airflow to the lower part of the sidepod - the former Merc engineer on youtube already confirmed that for the pervious iteration
