Russell being slower than on friday is stupefying...
The car wasn't porpoising when laterally loaded on Friday, but ultimately excuses about setup and coming on the radio to say the car is "hopping in yaw" (IIRC) are just excuses. Russell's teammate just plain outperformed him and did a better job. Likewise as when Russell outperformed the other Mercedes when Hamilton went the wrong way with setup in Jeddah.

Who knows what Mercedes did (or didn't do in response to track evolution) to make the car perform worse, but they clearly did!

Where would GR practice time have put him on the grid?

I really like this track, the chicane is a tough test for drivers. I had hoped Mercedes would be a bit more competitive, but it’s kind of fun to see Bottas qualify ahead of Hamilton:-)

Would probably take you as much time to work it out yourself as it would to get a reply on here

Bottas was on fire there! That Alfa is firmly in front of the Mercedes they just can't keep it up for the races.
Bottas has always been “Mr Saturday”.
at Mercedes. The Alfa is better in the race than in Qualifying. And so was Bottas so far this year.

W13 is like the W03. Narrow operating window and "innovative design cues". Merc spent all of'12 trying to figure out tyre issue and they still had that issue going into '13
Except, the W03 was really fast over 1 lap, the W13 isnt

P5, between Bottas and Hamilton.

I wonder what went wrong with Russell's setup between Friday and Saturday? The car went from handling quite well with minimal bouncing to handling terribly and bouncing like crazy. Most curious. (But ultimately just excuses.)

So much for Russell having a chance at pole, oh well...
