Have both Lewis and Russel got upgrades or only Ham?

Technically Lewis is top if Sainz was penalised for off track.
Norris bouncing

So weird to see teams like Alpine and McLaren who from my memory have not had porpoising issues having reeaaally heaving bouncing through the fast corners on this track.

Their aero is maybe very yaw sensitive in the high speed.

Be interesting to see the telemetry from the top 5. See whos on the higher engine modes.

As the teams find downforce and add performance to the cars the porpoising will get worse. Imo that’s why Redbull was so against changing the rules; because they know that eventually their car will bounce too as they upgrade it. And here you have max complaining about bouncing too. Welcome to the bronco formula. yey!

I guess engine modes will have a big one to play with. Given a lot of upgrades and limited bits/spares, I bet a lot of teams taking it a bit easier today

Mercedes bringing 3 floors surely busted their budget cap by now.

.
I suspect that you’re overlooking the elephant in the room which is Max’s comments relating to his father in law’s views towards Lewis and his subsequent dismissal of them as “no biggie”.
.
I think the wording that was used, even though of course with different kinds of cultures and things they said when they were little and younger, was not correct,” Verstappen said.

“Let it be a lesson for the future not to use that word, because it’s very offensive, and especially nowadays, it gains more traction.”

“I think you can see the word in two ways. But I think it’s still better not to use it.

Verstappen said he had not spoken to Piquet about the matter, saying it was “not up to me” to discuss it with him.

“I’m not going to call him and go hey man, that’s not correct - I think he knows that himself,” Verstappen said.
.
Could you perhaps explain to me where exactly Max subsequent rejects Piquet's words as "no biggie"?

Max; “I’ve spent a bit of time with Nelson, more than the average guy, and he’s definitely not a racist,” Verstappen said, claiming that Piquet’s comment, while clearly the “wrong word”, had been “blown out of all proportion”.

I think the quotes above are maybe after seeing the reaction and the fact that Piquet has been banned from the silverstone paddock as a result of his words.

(May be behind a pay wall as I pay for a subscription, although to be frank half of the time I don’t know why I bother…)
Well.... you don't want to get on the wrong side of your future father in law, especially since he's notorious for his antics.

Race sims are indeed close between top teams.

Sai v Ham on single lap however is closer than it should for mainly 2 reasons:

1. Sai went wide in T15, very easy to see.
2. Judging by rpm and gear tracks: Ham is running higher mode engine. Easy to see when both cars are on 8th gear. But also Ham is shifting up earlier than the car difference would say.

As for the others... Nobody had very clean laps actually, Lec lifted plenty through his lap, Ver made errors in the first couple of corners and didn't really push on final straight and so on.

FP2 quali sim wasn't good quality overall, race sim more representative instead.

I had a feeling Merc would have turned it up a little bit more given it being Silverstone. Wouldnt be surprised if they ran it a little 'more' than normal given they have 2 British drivers infront of a home crowd.

I imagine there will be a few tenths to come off those times from the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari (if they risk turning it up).

Is it a similar scenario for Norris too? Bit higher engine mode?
