I was under that impression, can someone say conclusively, can’t find it online.

Would make sense as Sainz is then probably in a higher mode with his new unit and leclerc has to save his as much as possible.

I know they are (now) allowed to change the PU under parc ferme (like for like) so leclerc can use one of his 2 new PUs per Canada as qualy PU exclusively.
Actually is P3 from looking at that. I always thought it was exiting the pitlane at Q1. Unless engine mode is different

5.4 Pre-Race Parc Fermé
5.4.1 Every team must provide the FIA technical delegate with a suspension set-up sheet for both of
their cars before each of them leaves the pit lane for the first time during qualifying
5.4.2 Each car will be deemed to be in parc fermé from the time at which it leaves the pit lane for the
first time during P3 until the start of the race. From this point, all cars must be presented in their
Reference Specification. Any car which fails to leave the pit lane during P3 will be deemed to be in
parc fermé at the end of P3.

But theres a LOT more to that section, but no specific reference to engine power mode.

Not surpised redbull is way ahead here. The track layout hinted at that. Once they get setup sorted theyre usually out of reach.
Perez on the other hand seems to ve having issues setting his car up but lets see how much he improves come qualy.
But i wont predict an easy win for RB, anything can happen.. and it usually does!
A merc win is out of the question, even a slow Perez can run down and pass mercedes in race trim if charles and max crash out for some reason.

Well, in this phase of the season chances for Merc are slim, but Sainz is out of the way so they have two mercs against Perez should Charles and Max crash. In fact, if redbull really is faster here we might see Charles be enormously agressive. Max has more to loose íf he is faster.

take an easy pole and nice win tomorrow. Why would Charles and Max crash anyway, that has only ever happened once in 4.5 years. Max usually gets the better starts anyways, and in either case, unless you're praying for a bad pitstop. Charles must just minimise the damage and make sure it is not a RB 1-2 for the sake of the WCC.

"IF" redbull is faster? there wasn't enough evidence from watched FP3 that Max is clear?

I am expecting 3 different manufacturers cars on the podium this week. Mind, I did expect a lottery win last week end.

Max did 14 laps on the medium in 1.38s. So no big tyre degration here. Seems to me they are 0.5s faster than the Ferrari's, which is massive. Going to be a damn easy win for Max if they wont have any failures or make any mistakes

With the heat this weekend, and the tire selection, even a two stopper is going to be tricky. Then again the C2 tire held up well in Silverstone, still, I don't see how a one stop is possible.
Nyck de Vries said on Sky F1 in FP2 that under these temps 1 stop race is feasible, compared to Barcelona race earlier in the year ... so seeing that almost everyone didn`t use the hard tyre in FP2 and FP3 that indicate this is the main tyre for the race hence a 1 stop race tomorrow, although it`ll be interesting to see had RB or at least VER will head to a 2 stop race bearing in mind last year race but most of all for their top speed they chose to run here compared to Austria

Did anyone get the RB and Fer tyre allocation left?

Thought it might have been Ferrari had 2 sets soft and 1 hard left, and RB had a medium spare.

Can't work out if the candy flavoured blondes and brunette and the cast of thousands are better than James Hunt and Murray Walker, just different I suppose.
Remember getting drunk in the carpark at the pits there with Jon Ekerold and his mechanic complete with fire and exploding spaghetti tins, very hard South African chaps indeed
Wonderful atmosphere there today, no soccer-type hooligans ...and complete with apex bollards and sandpaper!

it must be Q1 for the setups to be locked in, since Merc have changed Lewis' rear wing.

Yes,FP3 would be too restrictive for lockins
