I think ferrari is sandbagging a lot. Running monza wing they're still ~7 km/h slower on top end, but only on kemmel straight. They're obviously not 8 tenths off. Same with mercedes, they will be a lot closer tomorrow.

So i believe it's understandable that there is some confusion tbh and i might have made a mistake in adding up the PU and RNC penalties since 42.3.d) explicitly mentions 'end of the grid' from 28.3 (PU) but nothing about 29 (RNC).a) [... normal quali positions...]
b) [... for those without a time set ...]
c) Once the grid has been established [...] grid position penalties will be applied to the drivers in question.
i) The driver with the higher classification from the qualifying practice session will have precedence.
[it's a change from the order in which the offences were commited but otherwise the rules are very similar]
d) Once the grid has been established in accordance with Article 42.3a), 42.3b) and 42.3c), grid penalties for any driver required to start the race from the back of the grid after incurring a penalty under Article 28.3 will be applied.
i) If more than one (1) driver is required to start the race from the back of the grid they will be arranged in qualifying order.
They made a chicane there once, in 1994, and it was rubbish.yamahasho wrote: ↑26 Aug 2022, 19:09So they spent €80 million and Eau Rouge is still flat out, other than it looking cool to see the cars spark, why leave it?
Why not make it curve more for the left since they made space for more runoff. I would go further and say make it a sharper chicane to encourage some overtaking.
I see no point in the turns being flat out in any f1 circuit, f1 must have some reasoning to keep that corner as is.
thanks for your explanation, makes sense to me. But as announced in a later document, Leclerc also got a new CE, so that +20 for him, as far as I can see (+10 for the new ES and +5 for each of the other two elements), also moving him to the back of the grid
