Red Bull RB18

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

So again! Different parts on the cars!
Yes, Perez floor type was a bit more suited for his driving style: more rear DF. He can't cope with more front balanced grip (hear his qualy radio comment I can't handle more front flap) More front DF brings more laptime when handled correctly
It was half a second slower.
By it you mean Perez because of his driving style, cause this floor never was. His floor was a combination of the Canada/Silverstone variants. Both (potential) race winning floors. You know that..

It's a shame. They have to do different configurations to help slower Perez as he can't handle the same, faster configuration as Max. Every team would want two drivers who like the similar configuration of cars. Red Bull are like HRC in MotoGP. Only Marc can make the bike win, like Max does.

I don't know what Buxton is on about it (as always), but Checko actually confirmed that the chassis was already on the limit in terms of weight.
A chassis as fast and as good on the tires like the RB18 can't be too far off the weight limit.
I reckon that they had simulator to track correlation issues in terms of car setup at the start of the season.

Ladies and Gents - can we please revert to the RB18? Not driver, or team related talk. Please take yourself to the red Bull team thread and carry on

Thanks

Floor looks the same. Just the Ferrari edge was different then?

Yeah, I was just admiring the creativity. I wonder if there's a video out there of how they design these rakes...

I only recognized now that the strakes have become much more shaped and complex! Thanks for posting this picture!

Question. I am not as literate on the rules as most others here.

Remembering Newey has a penchant for slim/slender hourglass boattail/coke bottle zones, and the way this sidepod resembles the 2012/2013 Red Bulls, how legal (or illegal) is the tunnel style of old? To still keep the downwash effect but with some semblance of a coke bottle effect?
