So why is Max taking another ICE when just took a new one 2 races ago like Charles and George? Seems a bit risky starting in the pack heading down to turn one unless they ran ICE4 on 11 for those two races.
May be they just fully send it in one race.

Max's long run looked good on the softs. No deg despite quite a few laps and best pace of anyone

That is some significant lift and coast from Russell at the ends across all straights, and not far off top speed wise to the Ferrari. Maybe not as horribly draggy as initially feared?

To be fair, that rear wing that Mercedes is using looks to be a flat sheet of carbon fibre really.

Russell isn't lifting and coasting if you look at the throttle trace in the telemetry on F1-tempo.

Generally speaking, the speed at the end of the straight in Monza is "drag limited" not "power limited". We know that all teams have their PUs turned down, but in a drag limited condition, the PU mode doesn't really matter all that towards the top speed. The top speed is simply defined by the drag level. For example, the difference in top speed for George Russell at Spa between FP1 and Q3 was roughly 2km/h.

Clipping most likely. Happened to Merc on long runs last year too

Russell seemed to have an issue with the car because he was complaining about braking into turn 1. He might have been taking it a little easier into that corner because of that.

might also mean Merc have reduced cooling capacity (to reduce drag), and simply cannot sustain that engine output for the whole straight duration before things get out of hand

I should make a correction. Hamilton was clocked at 335 km/h. I didn't initially look for his top speed because he set the slower laptime of the Mercedes drivers.

Perez has swapped to the wing without the trimmed flap right?

Interesting. Maybe couldn't resolve the floppy DRS flap

Merc are struggling on the long runs it seems. Ham's race run is slower than Norris
