It would not count anyway, and possibly wipe the whole session if he did another lapBlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 16:52I just looked at the telemetry and Max was still close to 5 tenths up on the penultimate lap at the point when he aborted. Whoever's decision it was to abort that lap has had a huge blunder.
i think a couple tenths was due to the fact his tank was beyond fumeschrisc90 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 16:56https://ibb.co/Krd10kh
Max was well on on the telemetry vs Charles Pole lap. Right up to -.906 up until Max was told to back out. That would have been a mega lap.
Telling Max to back out of 2 timed laps was a little bit of a rookie error. Although from the pit radio and onboard they were going for 2 flat out laps at the end. I imagine he lifted a bit to get a little bit more battery before having 1 final stab at the last lap before the flag come out. It was only then they realised that the fuel level was a bit too low.
Also looks like RB have a little bit more engine mode than Ferrari this time round
Could well have been. We could go down that route every qualifying weekend though. Either way. 9 tenths is a huge amount. A lot down to track evolution id imagine.cplchanb wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 17:13i think a couple tenths was due to the fact his tank was beyond fumeschrisc90 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 16:56https://ibb.co/Krd10kh

according to the data from 2019 (I guess not much has changed in that regard) one lap of fuel is worth sth around 0.06s. So it makes a difference, but not that much.cplchanb wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 17:13i think a couple tenths was due to the fact his tank was beyond fumeschrisc90 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 16:56https://ibb.co/Krd10kh

We had several races this season with the same assumption and in the end it turned out that overtaking was very possible. Let's see.
If that is true we will see a DSQ of qualifying before the start tomorrow as they checked his car right away when he entered the pits. You must supply 2 liters for a fuel sample.cplchanb wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 17:13i think a couple tenths was due to the fact his tank was beyond fumeschrisc90 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 16:56https://ibb.co/Krd10kh

Yes, very tense, some outliers. Qualy on a damp track is always exciting.
If he had completed the PENULTIMATE lap then he would have been on pole, or at least 2nd or 3rd and would've made it back to the pits with enough fuelgandharva wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 16:55No, under the given circumstances it was the best decision, because otherwise he wouldn't start from p8 tomorrow.BlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 16:52Whoever's decision it was to abort that lap has had a huge blunder.
I'm saying on his penultimate lap, the one he aborted first. Had he completed that he would have been able to come into the pits as normal with enough fuelBig Tea wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 17:12It would not count anyway, and possibly wipe the whole session if he did another lapBlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑01 Oct 2022, 16:52I just looked at the telemetry and Max was still close to 5 tenths up on the penultimate lap at the point when he aborted.
