This is the problem with a drying track. Amazing in qualifying but garbage in the race because you cannot drive off line to overtake because its too wet and a dry race would've actually been better for overtakes. Still though it could do with some changes like they did with AD to stop it being Monaco 2.0.

Rubbish race by most. Carlos, Lewis, Max, russell, and who could forget Daniel.. Oh Daniel even on softs you were no where.

Good job to checo, Leclerc, alonso and Norris.
Rubbish race by Danny Ric? From P17 to P5? You joking right?
Erm did you watch the race?! That was pure luck. After he took the softs he got droped like a stone from Norris.

This breaks Verstappen's run for consecutive wins, but he's still on for most in one season?

Perez passed the SC before the pit lane second line. What do the rules say about that? I can not take a screenshot of it but it is very obvious he is in front.

to be fair, staying out a bit longer to wait for the early pitters to cause a SC wasn't a bad call from McLaren. So not only luck, although he wasn't particularly quick indeed.

Was Singapore on the calendar before Liberty bought F1 or am I crazy?
The incessant need for street tracks unfortunately has stemmed long before liberty era. Hopefully one era will break this trend.
:?:

The F1 calendar was full of street tracks in the 80's and 90's unless I am mistaken? Aside from Monaco, we had Las Vegas, Long Beach, Detroit, Dallas, Adelaide, Phoenix etc.

So for at least 40 years it has been typical for F1 to have plenty of street tracks. :)

It's just a coincidence that the concrete-lined Adelaide Parklands street circuit was replaced by the slightly more open Albert Park street circuit, for example.

Bernie was the one responsible for SG GP deal. Liberty bought in a few years later shortly after.

Yeah he is just out of practice. Driving dominant cars at the front for years would do that to any driver so can't blame him.

Why was Lewis complaining about starting with intermediate? and then again about switching to medium soft tyres?

On both count, I would say that team was right because Merc simply doesn't have the outright pace to control the race

SAI with a really poor effort today; extremely slow.
He is usually rather average but you are right, today was extra painful.

Holds the record for most wins not from pole.

Nothing like a race thread to bring out the troll fans.

30 secs behind norris ond softer tyre after the SC. There weren't that many laps.
Lando has the new spec chassis, can't really compare the two like for like, but Lando definitely did well.

Perez got an amazing start, Max had the pace to win but was just swallowed up after the bad start unfortunately.
Overall a very gripping and entertaining race! Perez winning both Monaco and Singapore is pretty impressive considering the focus required to keep the car out of the walls.

What did you guys think of the race though? The element of stratgey wasnt really there for me. The big cars really couldn't make use of their easier following because they just brake too long. Notice that we only saw straight line overtakes. All of the braking overtakes ended in tears.
