Ferrari F1-75

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Did they sculpt the red area so that created a front facing step (red arrow) that looks like the RB one?
Left pic = Imola (AMuS) - right = French GP @DANIELEALOFAN
The mini diffusers at the boat tail are still there but not very visible, or not as agressive ?

Great comparison angles, as expected this is a completely new floor altogether. They did what RB did with the step (red arrows), using it to narrow down the keel to let more air to the floor, then introduce a hard outward flick to help run the air outwards to the throat. The chassis department is doing the best job on the grid, the car is perfect in all conditions.
What is the benefit of that?

Pushing more air through the throat speeds the air up if done right. If not, it will choke the throat and stall the floor.

Adding this abrupt curvature in that area also reduce the pressure on its own, so it looks like a double benefit. No wonder RB did it from the start of the season.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

According to Albert Fabrega, Ferrari will be trying a new floor in Suzuka:

Update: Photo 1 the Suzuka bottom with tie rod anchor moved more centrally on the chute. (Photo 2 standard bottom) Change signaling a different ability of the edge to lower at lower speeds. Interesting test

seems maybe like the kick points have changed too ?

"Cool" idea, Ferrari gave up on making big modifications for this seasons end, a proposed new floor was ditched because it wouldn't fit the budget, so might as well experiment the benefits of some "tinkering".

Update to the shape of the outboard "bargeboard" floor fence. Seems Charles is set up to run the old floor whilst Carlos is testing the new one.

Do the have a "kick" point? For this angle looks like the incline is flat and that there is a "tube" like section.
Also, it looks a bit tighter back there, but it could be just an illusion due to the angle.

The orientation of the carbon fibres has also changed.

The orientation of the carbon fibres does not matter at all, carbon weave structure is made to absorbs the forces in all lines/straights equally

This is very incorrect.

Are you serious? You just said carbon fibre orientation does not matter in relation to F1? So you can just change it for fun? +45, -45, Unidirectional, Plain, TWill. It does not matter what you use anyway! And you can throw away the ply books? Yes!!! Great!!! #-o äähm..sorry, but no. What you say is just utter rubbish. I suggest you to do some research about F1 underfloor design and carbon fibre orientation.. and by the way - no one would like such a floor!!!

Really. Where have you been the last forty years? I think we have to arrest you and take you to F1 technical jail for the crime you just committed!
