8 years after the accident. Nothing learned. Absolute disgrace. FIA will never learn I guess.

We can have hundreds of HALOs, HANSes, side impact structured, yet nothing will help when hitting a slowly going tractor.
the incident happened under local yellow, today it was red. The main one to blame is Gasly
Gastly is not to blame, the tractors should not be inside the barriers while any car is still on track.

Not only gasly but many other drivers passed the tractor with 0 warning

The FIA now cover themselves saying the red flag was out before gasly went past the tractor (like that makes it much better). In reality the red flag seems to have been thrown 2 seconds before gasly passes the tractor - this is obviously problematic. They need to get a grip and not be so defensive in these situations when everyone wants just the best safety.
Plus they still follow the same delta under safety car and Red Flag. If they are trying to put it on Gasly saying he's going too fast, its still on them

Just don't release recovery vehicles under these conditions until all cars are safely in the pits! Its a red flag doesn't mean Gasly is going to stop in the middle of the track.

Looking at the radar on the TV feed, I wouldn't be surprised if this race doesn't go any further.

Apparently there is a gap after the band of heavier rain
Yeah, but it'll be "let's wait for that gap, then issue a 15 minute notice" then it'll get a bit harder and then "restart cancelled again", rinse, repeat.

It's like cricket and rain - it stops raining and they say "inspection in 15 minutes" then" restart in 30m minutes" then it rains again and they never get going even though there are periods when things can be happening.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Gasly is still driving too fast.

This is probably going to be like the Spa race. Delay after delay after delay and race time will run out.

The FIA has become too money oriented. The only negative of moving the race earlier to avoid the weather would be a loss in viewership. The FIA have a detailed forecast for the race probably a couple of DAYS before Sunday.

Is he not following an FIA set delta?

Races in countries with high probability or rain should be moved to more favourable weather season or just cancelled! This is fkn ridiculous!

I don't know how on earth that has anything to do with this.

What is so hard to understand that you do not put a tractor on a live track

Red flag with cars behind sc is still a live track.

It diesnt matter how fast gasket was going, that is an entirely unrelated issue.

What about the other drivers who passed by it?

Or just use the wet tyres and race?

Since Liberty took over, they wanted to shift Japanese GP earlier in the year, but organisers don't want that

It's not a virtual safety car, it's a local yellow. So no, there isn't a set delta.

Pirelli isn’t the problem. They can design a tire to do whatever they’re contracted to do.

They are somehow suppose to design tires that are fast, hold up to the weight of the cars, and put on a good show, and really only two of those can exist at one time.
Have they not failed to produce the committed quality in 2019/20, that lead to regulation change cutting downforce for 2021? Even then, Pirelli kept bloating the tyres with higher and higher tyre pressures? Sorry, they have not produced the required quality ever. Even this year, the fronts are not sturdy enough that is causing understeer.
There isn’t a manufacturer that wants to touch this ten foot pole. Pirelli is mandated to develop tires that work while also produce a show, meanwhile the FIA does their own thing and continues to make the cars heavier and heavier. The tires can’t be all things.
Why would that mandate apply to wet weather tyres though? Are they really that dumb that they’ve instructed ‘show’ tyres for wet compounds too? I just don’t think Pirelli have the expertise.
Team ANTI-HYPE. Prove it, then I’ll anoint you.
