Is the surface now flat here, last year it was quite severe. And that was with 13” tires and less stiff suspension. Hope it is improved as otherwise the layout is always good for good racing.

They're bringing a big update! *inhales more hopium* Also a circuit which is 17th/22 for % of the lap at full throttle *more hopium* and it also has the slow, long radius corners in s3 that were Merc's big strength at Zandvoort

How many tanks of hopium do you have? Because I think Merc fans will need double

the early reports say that the update comes with a ~5 kg weight reduction. So if true, there's reason to be hopeful, I guess.

Nahh, I don't think there's anything to be hopeful about. The weight loss is more effective on qualy runs, but then again I don't believe to be near 5kg.

I'm sooo trying to rearrange my schedule to at least be able to get to Friday practice... Not looking good! Part of the reason I took this contract was that I had to move close to Austin, and I'm still not going to make the race...

I have a wife and 4 daughters. I'm far from loaded. More sad that I miss it again this year. And I'm done with helicopters... My knees have enough damage from those rides in a previous life.

Does anybody know why all the sessions are scheduled so late (local time)? FP2 (end 6:30 PM) and Q (end 6:00 PM)are quite close to sunset at 6:55 PM.

according to the AMuS preview they wanted to get the sessions closer to the concerts in the evening (Green Day on Friday, Ed Sheeran on Saturday)

yeah, don't quite get it either - maybe people only came for the concerts?! Last year they had the Stones, so I'd guess that sounded more interesting to some than an F1 Qualifying hours before.
