They saw something in the data that showed a weakness, near failure. I'd suspect too much milage on the PU or the transmission he's running in FP. So, lower the stress on it to get it to the end of FP. They'll swap it out for FP2 or maybe they might try and get through FP2 with it. Definately isn't the PU/tranny combo they'll run tomorrow.
Short shifting limits wheel spin and increases fuel mileage, but it stresses the gearbox and the engine more in addition to limiting the MGU-H energy recovery, and potentially having a knock on effect with the cooling of the PU.
It sets a precedent that things flying of the car is not ok.diffuser wrote: ↑24 Oct 2022, 16:34Swed3121 wrote: ↑24 Oct 2022, 09:54I agree that Perez should be penalized, however this whole thing about who the fia is “covering for” is getting a bit old, first it was Ferrari, then McLaren, then Mercedes and now Red Bull. It is very obvious from this that the fia isn’t covering for anyone, simply that fans dislike any team which is dominating and will pick up on every opertunity to take a shot at them. So what about RB front wing in Perez. Rule is rule. Should be followed for every one not specific team. This 30 second penalty is BS and fia is onsided to cover RB as always.
How does giving a penalty AFTER the race prevent another Massa incident? You need the Black and orange flag. It's whoever's responsibily to give that flag fault.
You do realise that Massa was hit by a spring, which is why it kept bouncing so high. There was no accident that caused the release of the spring, the part just came flying out of someone's car. It was during qualifing, It wasn't even the race. Basically nothing would have prevented Massa incident except for a windshield, which they've chosen not to run or just never race.Swed3121 wrote: ↑30 Oct 2022, 15:55It sets a precedent that things flying of the car is not ok.diffuser wrote: ↑24 Oct 2022, 16:34Swed3121 wrote: ↑24 Oct 2022, 09:54

What you’re essentially saying is the equivenletn of a landlord who’s building is unsafe, saying, we’ll nothing happend so it’s ok.
The issue is something could have happend, and therefore needed to be raised.
Let’s say this weekend, a car looses a endplate or wingmirror, which flies off and hits another driver in the head who is rendered unconscious and needs to be airlifted to hospital with life altering injuries. Are you still going to well it’s okay, nothing happens last time
