That is wrong imho. Stewards should pull you in during a race, then there is still chance to do something, like Alonso did. Not after the fact when the outcome is a given.
Now they only said the protest was too late.
In the decision doc point 19 says:
Accordingly the Stewards determine that the Original Protest was not admissible and therefore the Decision in Document 61 is rendered null and void.
IMHO this means that the initial decision is not a precedent, even though it only got scrapped on inadmissibility and not because they deemed it wrong, it's as if it never happened.
They also want to reduce the use of the black and orange flag, so it's fair to assume that it won't be an issue and that there won't be (m)any protests over flappy bodywork post race in the future.
