The Brazilian Grand Prix was dry but that didn't make it any less spectacular than the sprint or qualifying earlier this weekend. The eventful race was controlled by the Mercedes drivers, followed by the Ferrari duo and Alonso who fought back from 18th on the grid.
The problem was that Max was so far right he wasn't going to make the corner without contact.
How do you KNOW this?! Lots of armchair opinion swinging going on. Fact is at the point of contact happened as HAM goes for apex whilst VER is on the curb. He cannot possibly go ANYWHERE else
We never get to KNOW anything since Verstappen has a tendency to prevent that with his driving. What we do KNOW is that he was penalized and Hamilton was not.
So if we are going on penalties given being always correct, then would you agree that the penalty for HAM in Silverstone was also correct and he was at fault? Or are we just using this as a convenient way of arguing nothing
Max made the first left corner, nothing wrong with that. He was alongside Lewis (after being ahead in turn 1). But Lewis didn’t leave enough space on the inside.
Almost the same as the silverstone 21 incident if you exclude the left hander in Brazil.

He could of braked and not gone for a gap that was never going to exist when he arrived.
Don’t disagree but how would VER know whilst being wheel to wheel through turn 1 into 2 that he was going to get no space whatsoever. Personally I see it as a racing incident more than anything else but that’s just me
You can also see though that Max had no chance of actually making the corner.
Both things are true
Maybe so, but one makes sense (being on the racing line, expecting the other car to not essentially try to drive across the racing line) and the other is basically video game dive bomb maneuver where you go in too hot to make the turn and bounce off another car to change direction.
In my opinion the incident is similar to Silverstone last year - which Lewis received a penalty for. Many argued it was too lenient, and now this penalty is harsh?

There is a point going into a corner when you just know you aren't making the corner unless you back out.
Max was in that place and kept his foot in, knowing he wasn't making that corner.

When HAM and VER are close on track... beware... VER did make a move which was difficult to accomplish, but HAM should've left more space. I would say racing incident.

As did Hamilton. He said racing incident.
No blaming on Max.
Just get on with it.
Dont beat "dead horse" again and again... Plz!!!

If flying were the language of man, soaring would be its poetry.
It's all about technology!
When you go fast, do not hesitate to go faster!

Car 1 was entitled to a cars width and car 44 didn't give it

Car 1 also has a responsibility to overtake without causing a collision.
Divebombimg into an impossible-to-turn-in position at the apex, doesn't do that.
Apart from Brundle the other commentators seem to agree with the MV penalty. Not surprisin as Brundle has made many wrong calls in his career, the guy is fallible.
