So not just any water cooler then… is it Merc’s system or a version they’ve designed themselves. Are coolers listed parts?
Charge air coolers of this type ("Engine-mounted Y=0 charge air cooler") are transferable parts so yes you can buy these, but not the other cooling systems (radiators, sidepod intercoolers). Williams and AM used the same next-gen water-air intercooler as Mercedes in 2022.
Ferrari clients also use Ferrari's Engine-mounted Y=0 water intercooler since 2014.

So Mclaren did as predicted (easiest prediction ever) : P
viewtopic.php?p=1106981#p1106981

But it remains to be seen whether they moved their lower side impacts structure to the floor, in order to make big+ undercuts, and whether they changed their monocoque design (they dont need that IMO)... and if they will relocate some of their centerline cooling systems (the saddle) to the sidpods...

ah yeah i remember that drawing, that must be a considerable update moving the intercoller so close and getting more weight centerline and saving the space in the sidepods, should open up more posibilities for basicly everything, packaging, undercut etc.

James Key was not present in the fire up video... business as usual or??

It wasn't even the first fire up, just the first PR one #-o

Honestly some of you read far too much into nothing.

I can't recall ever seeing Prodromou in any fire up video, so make of it what you will. He's got to be the "uncle" of the car, right? I'd be very surprised, shocked even, if the fire up video that teams post on social media is actually the very first fire up.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

I’m so not sure on that prediction….
Red Bull have Air to Air, and they’ve managed quite well so far!
McLaren seem quite determined to do things their way.
They could have tied up closer to Renault as was reported. But didn’t.
They could have probably tied up to be closer to Mercedes. But they haven’t as of yet. And probably won’t.
Water cooling may be more compact. But it also brings weight penalty’s.
I think every team will be determined to keep the weight down this year, and work within their own limitations.

Aren’t those “reaction” ones the ones that Merc uses to enable “zero pod”?

Is this for real or a misunderstanding?

The Reaction engines I know has the precoolers that cool air from insane temperatures down to negative temps and a split second. Is this tech being utilised in F1??

I know the precooler tech is supposed to be very light so it makes sense if it is affordable. Feels like it might cost a small fortune to buy that tech given how cutting edge it is.
