Red Bull RB19

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Strange little upwash region below the Hewlett-Packard sign though. Bet that’ll get looked at and changed. Otherwise, my my, cleanest flow vis around a pod on the floor I think I’ve ever seen

That upwash is due to the ''kick'' generated from the floor bulge and I think its there in order for the ''kick'' to re-energize the flow all the way to the back of the car.

So it's an ultra refinement.

This can be ominous for the other teams.

Thank you. It “looked intended” as it’s so clean but hard to tell

There is a vertical slit in the diffuser of RB19 . I think it's to increase the efficiency of the diffuser.

It's not visible on the other side though. That user has blocked me in the past for pointing out that they report incorrect info. I wouldn't trust it

So the bleed-out area of the underfloor is now used to generate two vortices that seal the floor. Nice countermeasure to the raised floor edge.

Here it looks like a slit in other direction. Looks more like a patch of paint on diffuser or a thicker part, with sandwich material inside composite laminate.

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

It’s a slot which should increase the energy of the fluid travelling on the outer side of the diffuser. In the end the extraction of the fluid should be better

Can others teams use this image to reverse engineer it?

Teams have already started using those mini Diffuser kicks. Ferrari and Alfa Romeo had it on their car around midway through 2022, and no doubt some other teams will have added them

If I understand right these kicks are vortex generators, or I am wrong?
