At least NOR is out and immediately doing laps not going back into the pits
He is out on hard tyres so I am guessing they will do a longer stint. We may not get a qualy run by Norris.

But 37.1 on Hards in a longer stint is a very nice lap time!

It sure looks like the same issue from last year. Frantic looking mechanic with a screwdriver and aluminum foil trying to jury rig a solution. :D

From what I could see, they are working around the brake ducts. Maybe the heat is damaging parts around?
Very unlikely to be the same issue,
They resolved the problem pretty quickly and they were fine for the rest of the season.
"pretty quickly"

The problems with their front brake ducts put them on the back foot for their development for the entire season  #-o
My point was that last year's problem was a design flaw which they rectified so it's unlikely they've repeated the same mistake,
I wasn't saying it was minor and of course it cost them valuable development time.

Exactly. Leaping to the conclusion that this is the same as last year is both uninformed a little ridiculous, given the complexity of the cars and the fact the the fix is not being applied to the tins or anything in them.

Anyway. Since it was solved quickly a long run should give the team plenty of lap count today.

I'm quite surprised so many people here are trying to downplay this.

I could accept making a mistake one year. But having it repeat next year is really really amateurish. Hopefully they can make a fix over night and continue with the programme.
Agreed. This is unacceptable.

Downplaying it? Don't see anyone downplaying it. People don't need to be frothing mad over it. I

Testing finds issues. Shock.

You have no idea how serious this is or why it has occurred.

What's the point in leaping to a conclusion so we can get straight to damning the team??

Not accurate, not useful, not any point.

It is unacceptable by the fact that these people are working with the best technology one has to offer and also getting paid better wages than anyone of us to be top in a team that targets the top.

What is the issue, precisely, and what should they have done to prevent it?

I don't really know. I am not a mechanic. I'm an accountant. The issue is why did that ever happen from the start? F1 punishes even a simple mistake and Mclaren can't afford to make any if they want to be top.

Everyone is a world class Technical Director, Engineer etc. Guys saying "it's unacceptable, it should never happen". Nobody on here is 100% certain what the problem is, "but it should never happen", because it doesn't happen to Tony Stark. Sometimes this place us worse than football twitter.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Exactly
Severe lack of nuance from some quarters.
