is it true that the highest downforce rear wing is the one that causes the more porpoising?
if that's so then would that mean that mercedes were controlling porpoising very well during this bahrain testing and with a lower DF wing it will be even better?
the were running the high DF RW to compare with the W13

So Mike Elliot confirmed they will stick to their concepts of very small/almost zero sidepods !

Plus that they will put a much smaller rear wing when the Bahrain race weekend comes !

Very interesting all these details & confirmations he gave with Ted Kravitz on Sky F1, really fascinating interview Imo

I don't see how a lower df rear wing would solve any of the issues the w14 seems to have at the moment

That's what I posted, bit got modded away I guess. Lots of braking issues, slow on the gas. And that on a max DF rear wing and the front wing cranked up.

Yes, the speed trap will smile on you for losing some drag, but that does not equate to laptime

Eliot mentioned "rear wing" in context of addressing W14 "low" top speed issue

They probably planned this new rear wing before the traction and rear-stability issues they've had at testing appeared. If they don't get their setup sorted properly I fully expect them to use the barn door once again

Did anyone @ MB explain what happen in the second day of testing ? Why they spent almost all night rebuilding the chassis after day 2 ?

Or a reason why the W14 lost all the front downforce and was almost undriveable on day 2 ?

Not really, but reading between the lines, they must have lowered the car when the issues occurred.

Maybe they were using a high load wing to induce the most df as a test of their new suspension in isolation from preparing for the first race.
