My biggest grievance is with Renault,
I remember that. He makes these weird matter of fact statements sometimes that are just completely wrong. It's not "Max will probably stop again", it's "Max HAS to stop again".organic wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 14:00His predictions never come true. He's legitimately clueless especially when it comes to race strategy. Rewatch the Mexico GP with F1tv commentary to hear Sam Collins talk for half an hour about how Max HAS to pit again
He was right & was doing an outstanding job in a sub-par machinery in a team who achieved nothing except his 2 titles, but that team was busy talking about his age, his retirement, about him transitioning to Le Mans with Renault after 1 year left & had identified Piastri as a replacement. They should bought out Ocon's contract if need be to pair Alonso-Piastri & it was foolish to give him that big of a contract after he did well for 3-4 races when Alonso had returned.f1jcw wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 14:31My biggest grievance is with Renault,
I think even though they might be grumbles between, he owes that team hell of a lot, when he left last year (which is okay to do) he should have given them respect and due notice and let them know rather then do it cause them as much trouble as possible.
Ever since the final day of testing their one lap pace has looked decent, sort of 0,5s off. But the long run pace has been worrying, especially the deg.f1jcw wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 14:26yeah, you can build on that, plus it can be track dependent.InsaneX_Badger wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 14:24I will be very happy if Merc are only 3 tenths behind. Second behind... erm
He gave them the time to propose a renew contract for months, even on Drive to Survive is shown that Otmar promises an offer on his birthday by late evening but didn't happen until the end of the weeked, 3 days later. If Alonso didn't sign for Alpine last year is because they didn't offer him the contract earlier, Alpine wanted 1 year, Alonso wanted at least 2. They were pushing him out and where you are not really wanted, what's the point to stay?f1jcw wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 14:31My biggest grievance is with Renault,

I'm sorry but even if he could have done it in a better way..Mr.S wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 14:35He was right & was doing an outstanding job in a sub-par machinery in a team who achieved nothing except his 2 titles, but that team was busy talking about his age, his retirement, about him transitioning to Le Mans with Renault after 1 year left & had identified Piastri as a replacement. Otmar is a joke & so is Rossi. They absolutely got what they deserved. Alonso told Ferrari he was leaving & look what it got - They announced Vettel before even Alonso's departure could be announced - This is a cut-throat world. Hamilton left a competitive Mclaren for more money to a mediocre Mercedes then & didn't care 1 bit about the team which raised him. This is how the world works - Welcome to life !
Lewis didn't leave McLaren in the lurch, he just didn't renew his contract.Mr.S wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 14:35He was right & was doing an outstanding job in a sub-par machinery in a team who achieved nothing except his 2 titles, but that team was busy talking about his age, his retirement, about him transitioning to Le Mans with Renault after 1 year left & had identified Piastri as a replacement. That's massively misunderstanding the situation. Mercedes sponsored Hamilton all the way through Mclaren from him being picked up in karting to the end, the funding came through the HPE engines division just as much as Mclaren, Hamilton went with the team that had supported him.
Pushing him out by offering 1 year?Redragon wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 14:37He gave them the time to propose a renew contract for months, even on Drive to Survive is shown that Otmar promises an offer on his birthday by late evening but didn't happen until the end of the weeked, 3 days later. For a driver with the caliber of Alonso it is, where is he now with a decent car at 41 years old. The guy has great physic and still hungry. Alpine where treating him as the past offering just 1 year because they have other young driver to take his seat. That is pushing him out in my opinionf1jcw wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 14:40Pushing him out by offering 1 year?Redragon wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 14:37He gave them the time to propose a renew contract for months, even on Drive to Survive is shown that Otmar promises an offer on his birthday by late evening but didn't happen until the end of the weeked, 3 days later. That isn't pushing him out.
