Great effort by Aston Martin and Alonso overall. P5 was the maximum today, but they can be in the fight for P3 tomorrow.

Did Alonso run out of tires? Disappointed that he did just 1 run.
only Ferrari and RBR drivers had 2 new sets for Q3.
The F... tire allotment in F1 needs to change.
meh. everyone except ferrari and rbr messed up q2 by doing 2 laps on new, ferrari did one lap on used and rbr put in a banger lap right away. This decision was so weird as it happened, I was calling it out on the Discord server.

I dont think alonso with a perfect lap could have beaten sainz in the end, I think P5 ahead of merc is quite realistic. No one can be expected doing zero mistake lap.
sure, mate. But Alonso exceeded normal little mistakes. I only saw it on the live tv´s world feed and will be able to judge it better once I see it´s onboard but my impression is that Alonso could´ve gone 0.25s faster

No, I think only Ferrari does. RBR used all their tires and so did everyone else but Charles.

I think Alonso might? But you're right that RBR 100% used their softs

It should be a great strategy for a late race SC. I hope they don't use it at the begining of the race as it wouldn't be a huge advantage against the RBR with a 3 laps old softs.

I wonder what Piastri is thinking king right now regarding his Alpine to McLaren move.
Alpine has the project to join the top teams next year since Ricciardo joined... I'm french and I hope they can improve but I dont believe them anymore.

Oh I think Leclerc could have been close, so let’s calm down Red Bull fans. I find it very odd that Ferrari didn’t try again unless it was a technical issue but apparently it might be tactical choice to save tyres. We’ll see.
I don't see a lot of RB fans cheering for a 'done and dusted season' though, what's there to calm down?
The people that seem to think '23 is already over aren't the RB fans to be sure.
Ok - just look at page 42…
You mean the page where there are one or two RB fans happy about having a 1-2 this particular time, and a few non-RB fans claiming season over?

I have no faith in alpine joining the top 3 fight in next few years. Genuinely believe Aston could be serious title contenders 24/25

Kinda bad session for the new guys... Sargeant, Piastri, De Vries....
Not entirely. For the latter two, yes, hyped drivers who underperformed. Sargeant did a time equal to Norris and was only 2 tenths away from Albon
It's a very long season. Let's wait to judge who is and isn't overhyped after at least a dozen races.

Shows the level on current grid. it's extremely competitive, strongest ever by far in my opinion.
For sure very competitive! Piastri vs Norris is very interesting. Might just be what Norris needs, beating such a prodigy. Might put last year's against Ricciardo into different perspective. Exciting times!
Absolutely agree! and look at Hulk and how well he showed. Some people forget that such drivers as Checo and Daniel have had a measure of him as teammates.
Modern F1 is incredibly competitive, I feel like people often underestimate that.

Ferrari definitely could have battled there for pole but I think RB best weapon is tomorrow’s pace, just like last year. That’s why Ferrari felt the need to have the fresher tyres.

Both Perez and Verstappen told that the car is tilted towards Sunday so I think that bar anything crazy, a 1-2 or 1-3 is easily on the cards here.

So, all in all, RB slightly ahead of Ferrari and Alonso with the Mercs a quite distant third.

I still cannot believe that some people ( and pundits, although they were mostly marketing there) honestly believed that Alonso would challenge for pole or front row. There are no miracles in second-year regulations.

That being said, AM evolution is still impressive.

Toto said in f1tv interview post-race that he sees the race pace order as RB, then Alonso, then Ferrari and merc in the same ballpark

Where did Ferrari/RB extra performance come from relative to AMR? Engine or fuel loads?
What were the speed traps? I believe you said earlier that RB was matching Ferrari.
No, ferrari was consistently 2-3 kmh faster.
Hi Jush!

I don`t know how accurate the F1 app live timing but I checked at Q3 upon VER, PER and SAI last run and they did 322, 322 and 325kph in contrast with HAM and RUS which did 319kph ... could you confirm that, please?

It`s interesting that all top 6 drivers were saying they set up the car more towards the race, PER and HAM saying even their car was a handful in qualy. Then RUS had a bold statement saying they are aiming for the 3rd spot on the podium ... maybe he`s not wrong after all, based on LEC and SAI statements regarding their rear tyre degradation issues ...
