If he saw some of the blocks we witnessed today he wouldn't complain.
Wasn't the issue that he'd make a blunder when he was in a good position? I remember him wrecking the force india in Brazil many many years ago, as well as chucking the Renault of the road in Hockenheim.Hammerfist wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 20:02Very fast in one lap, but his race pace leaves a lot to be desired, which is one of the reasons why he doesn't have a podium to his name.
Sainz did an 8-lap ish race run on softs at the same time as Max. Sainz was keeping up with Max for the first part of the stint but the pace fell away a bit towards the end
Yeah he hit Lewis in Brazil 2012 when he was on for the win. But that's besides the fact, when he was teammate with Sergio, you could really see a deficiency in race pace and tire management. But yeah the mistakes are part of his lack of success.AR3-GP wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 20:06Wasn't the issue that he'd make a blunder when he was in a good position? Verstappen was also complaining about bad downshifts during his run.organic wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 20:08Sainz did an 8-lap ish race run on softs at the same time as Max. Sainz was keeping up with Max for the first part of the stint but the pace fell away a bit towards the end
Don't think a huge amount can be taken from the laptimes of these race runs here compared to other tracks.. seems like most were driving to a target laptime and doing as much tyre management whilst targeting the laptime; we won't know how successful each team were at managing the tyres until they do a full stint length in the race really
I recall Nico saying he "hated" tire management.Hammerfist wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 20:13Yeah he hit Lewis in Brazil 2012 when he was on for the win. Nuts how RB can be amongst the fastest teams yet generate so much downforce. The RB19 is a phenomenal car.
Freeing up the underside of the wing to increase downforce, reducing weight...LM10 wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 17:17What’s the purpose of the single pillar in your opinion? And why would they opt for a higher DF rear wing than in Bahrain?Cs98 wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 17:14The flexing is strictly regulated nowadays, doubt there is much of any vertical flex in that wing. The main-plane is clearly more squared off, which would suggest slightly more downforce for slightly more drag. They might compensate for that with a weaker beam wing, but I doubt Ferrari will be hitting 340 come quali.
