maybe, yeah, but Verstappen was 15s behind Alonso when the Safety Car came out, with Russell (and potentially Sainz, depending on the time of the stop) in between. In the end Alonso finished 15s behind. So it could have been close at least.
No is wouldn't have been, as Max would have pushed more and would have driven faster as Checo did on the M, extend his stint and get Q-Laps in till he would have overtaken ALO and extend that lead till +5s.
If VER would have overtaken RUS after the restart of SC he would have been closer to Checo aswell, but because he was stuck behind the Merc until DRS was back Checo could take a comfortable lead.
Checo did a great drive and he deserved to win as without SC he would have done that aswell, but VER would be easily 2nd even without SC
