Combine best sectors for all drivers and sainz would be P3.. his sector 1 on his last push lap was extremely bad despite the extra prep lap. Still suffered with cold tyres

Really big weakness for conditions like this

It’s confusing because elsewhere Ferrari was overheating the tires. Struggling for warmup is baffling.

Is still Vasseur claiming that the car has good performance in qualifying? IMHO it is only the 4th car also in that aspect (mercedes is faster and they have already said their car needs big redesign)

Yeah Charles did wonders in both 1st 2 races in Qually and masked true performance to a fault. At least towards normal media people, true performance was hidden. Engineers aren't fouled tho. So internally they know something needs working on. And i believe atm all resources goes toward evaluation what is what. At least from Fred vibes they are not so into pure track part production. R&D takes priority. hence all that reshuffle at top technical personnel. Also i m not ruling out Ferrari inefficacy of tech team became exposed badly trough this 1st (partly 2nd) yearsof budget cap era.

Embarrassing management of the entire qualifying, on top of a mediocre car.

0.01 per day yikees. If u corelate that with windtunnel allowance by factor 1.5 (rought aprox) :/ 0,03 relative gain is mind bendingly massive

This F1 analysis guy should have analyzed a bit more before posting wrong numbers. Last year Aston Martin already in FP2 was half a second faster than in Qualifying. In FP3 both cars crashed with Vettel having heavy damage. In Q1 Stroll’s car was ready 2 minutes before end of session and immediately crashed again (crash with Latifi). In the meantime the repairs on Vettel’s car finished and he did a single lap in Q1, but obviously too slow without any preparation.

It’s also to be expected that Ferrari, having gotten pole comfortably last season, would have a less of a performance gain than for example Aston Martin which had a dog of a car at the beginning of last season before starting to copy RedBull’s concept.

I know pretty well that Ferrari’s current performance is way too bad, btw. They need to get their act together as soon as possible.

True about Aston, but is the comp with RB that really highlights the awful work done by Ferrari. When you factor in the additional DRS Ferrari probably improved by only 0.25s YOY (maybe a bit more with a clean lap from Charles which was screwed even in quali today and that really shows how even worse Ferrari is at managing tight situations).

See where Max is + 14 quicker than Sainz? In the quick change of direction, the F1 75 last year was faster :D

Unbelievable that there are still people defending Binotto—he really did leave a turd of car and race management behind as his legacy. Not to mention the cheater engine saga. A man with no vision, no leadership and mostly not smart enough, and yet named himself TD as well as TP.

Seems to me the Haas has more potential than this POS. And some still insisting the concept of SF-23 is good yet is just ahead of a Williams. Best buckle up for a slide down the order to 5th or 6th best car as other teams develop while Ferrari keeps bringing absolutely the minimum tweaks at every race.

I start to think that before the end of the season Leclerc is going to make a revival of Prost's 1991 famous phrase "This cas is like a truck"

Sainz says that they have specifically set the car up for the race. He also lost a couple of tenths in S1 that cost him 3rd because he slowed down too much to let people by on prep lap.

For Charles he didn’t do a second prep lap because they thought rain was coming and that cost him.

Honestly that was not a ‘normal’ qualifying so we shouldn’t necessarily say this is the ‘real’ one lap picture and the previous weekends for Charles flattering - if anything this cold and green track is the outlier.

Let’s see if they really did sacrifice some quali speed for race pace before we make any more proclamations. If they have 2nd fastest race pace tomorrow then you’d have to say it’s worth the poor qualifying.

The fact that all the work is going into race setup is concerning. The car must have such a small operating window. Mercedes are going with a whole new concept, and yet on paper look quite effective

Incompetence.

1 Tyre degradation was their Achilles heel for over a year and they fooking dont have any solution
2. In order to gain some top speed they have disbalanced the car so badly that it has lost all its positives of last year.

I feel the staff / technicians are no good, there is 0% chance that they will solve.

They just seem lost to be honest, very similar to Mercedes last year.

Every other team is working on race setup—just read the Autosport story on Merc’s qualifying turn-around for example.

I sincerely hope it’s a case of bad qualifying or running the engines at lower modes during practice but we’ve been through these delusions before and in the meantime the team is sliding back towards the Williams and Haas. The pit wall clowns don’t help either.
