It was an interesting race, finally some luck goes our way (my favorite bad luck was part of Piastri's wing missing the whole field and then hitting Lando's cars).
The car was probably slower than Alpine, but it was faster than Haas, Alfa, AT and Williams. So realistically 6th fastest car at the moment. Haas may be better in qualifying trim.
I'm hoping the team can start running the car with a smaller rear wing as having this kind of deficit on the straights makes it a nightmare to race from the back. You either have to have a good qualifying car or you need a car that can overtake. Having a slow qualy car which cannot overtake as it is slow on the straights is a nightmare.

Daniel was having a great run in 2020 but Mclaren got greedy. They didn’t NEED someone like Daniel because they had Norris. They should have signed Hulkenberg instead. That would have save both Hulk and Daniel’s careers. Norris is the show piece. Hulk is the reliable P5-P8 points scorer.
This is an interesting alternative history idea but I think the problem was that the team was not sure Lando was a top level car at that moment. But just imagine if Hulkenberg signed up and went on to win at Monza like Ricciardo did.
By the way - Hulkenberg looks to be more adaptable than Ricciardo as he did all those super subs during Covid and usually was half decent immediately.
