Also, since their concept is based on compactness they should be able to copy any other sidepod concept if they want to. It's just adding material. They pretty much said this last year.

Is it vision or 'seat of the pants' feel?
If he does not feel as if it is rotating around him it can be disconcerting as your body feels as it is sliding.
( found this on one type of motorcycle particularly where the rider sits up straight and the seat seems to turn )

He had to adapt based on vission alone. Not something the older drivers are used to. Chandock could identify the disconnection between Lewis' reactions and the turn in... Like he's totally reacting unnaturally.

I think he will adapt to whatever it takes to get speed out of the car and get used the feeling of no feeling. But he will not be at his best.
Just like Kimi and his specific power steering requirements. Give him what he wants with the steering wheel and you get the high precision wheel to wheel racing that we know Kimi can do.
Hamilton though adaptable to all kinds od racing conditions, has througout his career require certain things on the car to perform. Notably the shape of the steering wheels on the mclarens and the brake material on the mercedes car he first drove in 2013. He did not truly settle in until the braking material chanhed to his liking.
Russel of course is a different generation and is perfectly fine with the current ergonomics of the car. Hamilton should just adopt ie drive more simulators

Number 44 will quickly adapt again to the car as soon as he is provided with the fastest car again, who wouldn't.

Exactly, for Mercedes to go RB/Ferrari/AM style is far less difficult than vice versa. Williams could do it with a far bulkier set up than Mercedes, as depicted in these photos:

For me though, the intriguing thing about the Williams update was it allowed them to open up the front of the floor slightly. It's clearly still the same floor but the aperture looks more linear and the fences appear less angled.

It's not difficult to see that Mercedes have far more real estate to play with in this area relative to the far bulkier Williams of '22 should they decide to go down this route. As depicted by racing news.

Which leads to the direct comparison of the front floor from AM and the Merc. Ringo pointed to this in the W14 thread.

The Mercedes has a smaller aperture and the vanes appear more aggressively set, which may translate into more drag to get the desired vortices relative the AM.
Whichever route they do decide to go down though, from all these photos it's clear that others have done so with more restrictive concepts. It's entirely possible we might just see an evolved zeropod design. Who knows, but I'm willing to bet they crank open that front floor section a bit more with less aggro vanes.

I know reacting to starting a race on legs is different than launching a car, but it goes to show the kid loves to gamble. It's admirable that he is willing to push the limits and take risks.
It's within the normal range, I'm the wrong side of 40 and can still get ~180ms reaction times on tests.

I think drag racing deletes any start under .2s reaction time.
wasn't this rule changed after bottas jump start in 2017 when he moved before lights went out but didn't trigger the transponder?
No, they didn't change anything. In f1 you can pre-empt starting lights going out if you're lucky (bottas austria 2017).

Charlie Whiting had said, good luck if you can pre-empt and stay positive on the reaction time when the Bottas incident happened . So nothing wrong even if it's +0.01 of a second.
