Within a tenth of P5 is spectacular. Let's see what the race pace is like...in the Sprint tomorrow!
Also very happy PIA kept it out of the wall. He'll gain confidence through the weekend. The Sprint will be good practice for him

Not bad at all, and P5 so far. On a track that would have been our weakness pre upgrade.

We are closing in on Aston Martin.
P6
P7 in the end, when I wrote it was P5.

But we are close to the others now. They are yet to bring their updates but now I believe we can have 4th fastest car by the Summer break.

What a quali - Thumbs up and hats of.
The difference from Merci/Aston is ~1 tenth only on a track that does not suit the car, at least on paper - - that is spectacular.

Keep up the good job guys!

I think Alpine brought something considerable as well.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Aston DRS was not working as far as I understood.

looks like McLaren splitted the strategies there, Piastri kept a new set of softs for the Sprint Qualifying, Norris didn't. Probably made sense

True but still a very big step forward - the team deserves it.

That was only for Stroll AFAIK, and it was only the last straight. With it he clearly beats Piastri, but still not bad from Oscar. We all know how fast Lando is. Lando matched Alonso and, as far as I could see, they were both on fresh tires. Being equal to AM is a great showing on a track that has not been our friend basically ever. AM are probably still mighty quick in race pace, though, so I dont expect us to be able to hang come sunday, but being ahead of Alpine is great news anyway for "just" a floor update.

Oscar went to Q2 twice, Lando once.

yes, but Norris used three new sets in Q1 (5 in total - Piastri only 4) - at least if the live timing is correct:

I'm most impressed with how quickly they fine tuned the set up with the new package. Alpine looked like they didn't bed theirs in as smoothly.
