"As it stands, the FIA championship – minus the eight FOTA members – will feature Williams, Force India, Manor, US F1 and Campos teams. Lola has already withdrawn its entry while the likes of Prodrive, Brabham and March may be called up to help fill the field."

oooooooohhh... sounds interesting *sarcastic*

i hope frank williams can get a championship next year so that his champion driver can move up a rank to GPWC.

Formula One is now Formula Gone.......

Wow!
And where is WhiteBlue?

You know, even if FOTA is not gonna make it (but I wholeheartedly hope they can!) this is so good to spit in the face of MM and BE. I'd say let F1 die, but motor racing will live and the new ancestor will come!

The deadline for unconditional entries to the 2010 FIA Formula World Championship will expire this evening.

Does that mean the FIA have until the end of today to find 4 or 5 more teams?

(What does the FOM contract dictate in terms of minimum cars on grid?)

Unless they go to three car teams, in which case they have to find another team or two.

Well, you are right. I just wanted to read again that he had predicted this.

2kilcoo316 - I believe that MM has a b-list.

if they do have the minimum car issue, how can the teams run 3 cars under 45Million?

With this timbo, there will be little need for a b-list, the way I unedrstand things, there's always GP2 or whatever they wanna call it?

Might as well have a go when given the oportunity then.

For five of the major car manufactures of the world, fielding three cars should not be such a big problem, they all have a third driver and an xtra chassis would not cost too much in terms of logistics, would it?

They cart a 3rd chassis around with them anyway.

The FIA just say that they shouldn't build it at the circuit... in their infinite wisdom... after all, what is the point in carrying the chassis half way across the planet then actually have it prepared up to a useable state in the event of an accident.

If Spa '98 had repeated in the past couple of years, it would have been a complete disaster.

The teams are going to have to get technical regulations out the door sharpish...

However, since it is now technical people running things, I would imagine a much more coherent set of regs will be produced. Probably using drawings (design spaces) and words rather than just words.

Quote from Ross Brawn
"I'm not supporting a breakaway championship, but if there was one, then it would be one with cars similar to what we are working on now, which will be without re-fuelling."
I think that they would have same regs as today to start with, and probably make gradual changes later.

Makes sense.

Big changes = big costs.
