Looks like we need wec style BoP settings then!
No .. please don't, BoP would be very unfair and against every grain within F1. Unless all rules go overboard, there is no need to do such a thing.
Easiest thing could be .. give every driver x secs per race the possibility of using DRS, wherever/whenever or in designated parta of the circuit. Use wisely, because when you're through, you're through. People can go mad in attack, save for defense, or anything in between.

Whether x is 60, 120, 180 secs doesn't really matter.
...or teams can just make better cars.🙄

Don't enable the weak to survive in F1. That's gross.
The cost cap is already here and the FIA change the rules constantly in order to trip up the front runners. BOP would be consistent with the way Liberty Media treats the sport.

or f1 should stop changing the rules ,imagine if they had kept the same rule from 2021 ,we would have multible teams fighting for champion.forcing the team to use simplier suspention was not a good idea Rbr looks to have found something in that area.if you open up the rules teams have multiple avenues to attack.

The supposed revolutionary changes Ross brawn and symonds harped on about for so long have been a huge let down in my opinion.

Historically isn't that the case always with rule changes? One or two teams get it right and it's boring. We had with the engine freeze 7-8 years of Mercedes domination before, now we have RB, next will be who knows?

Nah but they harped on so much it would change the racing etc. no other rule change ever claimed as much as the 2022 rules and car design overhaul

22’ was an improvement, allowed them to get closer and for longer, but still didn’t solve the issue. 23’ they’ve been allowed to add downforce and it’s back to square one really. Doesn’t help Ross Brawn scarpers into retirement once more and doesn’t have to face the scrutiny of his plan.

As for regs in general, that’s why you have era’s. One team gets it right, they win a haul of titles, and then just as teams begin to catch up, another regulation is introduced, and another team begins a new era of domination.

Pirelli must bring back the 2012 tyres. No artificial mini gp, no sprint. Bring back those tyres. Prevent nursing, make them push!
What???

Those tyres basically made another layer with amount of fallen tyre marbles..
Well, i guess they can fix the marble part. I wanted to say, they must bring tyres that prohibit nursing and fall off the cliff after a certain amount of laps. It is the only way to make races interesting through strategy. Unless we are all happy with 1 pitstop snoozefests.

They could just give unmarked tires so nobody knows what compound they are on. Since we are listing terrible ideas

I suggest making tires that require a very very hot running temp thus forcing hard driving constantly to keep them very hot. Shorten the life span across all ranges. Make them so they fall off a cliff when they are done. This would force constant hard driving, discourage nursing, and forces pitting.

What do you recommend? Spec cars?

Historically speaking, close competition is the exception not the norm over many different regulations periods. It is something that is inherent to the sport.

Why does a close racing Formula require spec cars?
I don't understand why highlighting a problem requires a solution from me. Perhaps a thread can be started for this so the conversation can perish there

If we're citing history, then should we also just flatly ignore the reason the rules were changed for 2022?
Since the inception of these rules we've had 26 races of which 21 were won by a single team. compared to a similar sequence of the darkest of the dominant Merc days of 22 wins in 26 races. Almost identical by every metric in terms of laps led and wins(dominance). Not only that but we're seeing a divergence in that the competition could occasionally challenge RB last year.
This year? The chasm is even wider.
Every decision has been made to not dumb down the sport, but to make it more achievable for more of the teams and to get a closer competition going on, while still leaving meritocracies so the best teams still win.
I think there will be a bit of disparity at the beginning, but we're not expecting a huge disparity. I'm confident that these rules will lead to much better racing. We only really had two drivers in the world championship and two teams in the world championship. It was a great season from the point of view of entertainment and battles, but we really would like to see more teams in that battle. -Brawn
They have emphatically failed on pretty much every aspect of this.
