Yes I was trying to highlight the "inside" of the inlet. It's actually quite large.Venturiation wrote: ↑24 May 2023, 20:10there is still some space to the right when the vertical segment comes down from the midwing

We'll need to see at least 5-6 different angles all over the fully assembled car to get anything close to a decent picture about the overall sidepod geometry. Since they now have an actual undercut under the inlet, the whole pressure distribution will change a lot, but we need to see some dimensions relative to the rest of the car to get a decent idea of whats going on
Doesn't it look like an Aston Martin waterslide? Starting just to the right of the pointing finger, after the vent.CaribouBread wrote: ↑24 May 2023, 19:24

Personal guess, they have a ferrari style inwash rear
I noticed that as well, seems like theres a gap in the sidepods towards the rearTheRacingElf wrote: ↑24 May 2023, 21:05Doesn't it look like an Aston Martin waterslide? Starting just to the right of the pointing finger, after the vent.CaribouBread wrote: ↑24 May 2023, 19:24

Fully agreed that is what I also see.TheRacingElf wrote: ↑24 May 2023, 21:05Doesn't it look like an Aston Martin waterslide? Starting just to the right of the pointing finger, after the vent.CaribouBread wrote: ↑24 May 2023, 19:24

wait and see the relative sizeStu wrote: ↑24 May 2023, 19:49Not zero-pods, not Mini-pods, but Vanilla-pods…CaribouBread wrote: ↑24 May 2023, 19:24

The least important thing in the picture is the aperture of the sidepod..
Yes this is more a test about if the sidepods are doing something bad and affecting the rest, we will see them bring the old ones to comparePlatinumZealot wrote: ↑25 May 2023, 03:38According to Toto and some posters this should be a vanilla side pod. So my guess is they are testing the floor and suspension mostly. Monaco is not about aero efficiency so these sidepods could very well be a rudimentary version
It does seem that it's not angled down as on RBVenturiation wrote: ↑24 May 2023, 19:54better pic of the suspension

On W13 the midwing and sidepod were completely separate, on W14 there's an inner transition surface where a single Y-cut section is present - allowing the team to generate an undercut (like all other teams). Basically, as some members already said, this transforms the upper surface of the wing into an extended upper inlet lip (overbite) - in the eyes of FIA reading the rulesVanja #66 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2023, 09:33Actually, I think with this year's design they'd be able to have an undercut. The inlet starts right where the wing ends and they form a single surface on the inside. This means W14 has only one surface intersection in y-cut in the width of the inlet, so they can actually introduce an undercut and keep the wing. The thing is, I'm not sure that's something you'd want to do, you'd need to raise the inlet and extend the width and that would effectively cancel out the mid wing and likely it's downwash effects too.
