It's a no brainer. Drivers take advantage where they can and won't if there isn't an avenue. Alonso did that in 2021 Russia after having studied the previous instances where Stewards didn't punish. Stewards take action or block the avenues would be only way to stop it. Good that they blocked taking away the possibility. I personally prefer to see gravel on the run off rather than grass or tarmac run offs. There should be a bigger penalty for mistakes.

Their "drs trick" doesn't really exist with their high downforce wing. The effect is mostly visible with the medium and low df wings.
Mercedes ran the highest downforce wing in Suzuka during the rain last year but couldn't get past the Alpine whenever they pulled out of the slipstream. I feel the high DF wing is for tire management reasons.
Ending the race stuck in gravel because you slightly outbraked of yourself, or even because someone pushes you wide, is excessive punishment. It leads to drivers not pushing and being even less likely to overtake. Ergo, worse for racing.
