The mclaren mechanic probably going to get a hefty fine, but what about the cameraman who was also filming on a live race track?

Rain or not, VER had a margin over others
I just want to watch some f1 cars going around quick in undisturbed sessions is all.
As was said already I don't think Ver has a tangible advantage over Leclerc especially. It'll be very close, as in austria. Race might be a different story, but quali I wouldn't dismiss ferrari at all.

Welcome to the new world under climate change. I suspect we'll get more whacky weather over the next few years

We just need hail or snow coming during a race. Probably would immediately be red flagged due to the helicopter not able to fly though??

Leclerc's fp3 lap - behold FOM sinking to a new low with their onboard camera positioning. Worst camera angle I've seen maybe ever. Can't see anything. There's a car in front of him trough copse (that's why he's lifting and his entry speed is 310 kmh) but you couldn't tell from this shot. Horrendous..

All in all ferrari looks pretty hooked trough the lap with serious straight line speed. Minimal steering wheel corrections.

The camera position is dictated by the team isnt it? Otherwise we would have the same shot for each driver....and we dont.

No, it's sole discretion of the FOM and always has been.

The way announcers get super giddy about it, further pisses me off.

Guess they could have picked the upper camera rather than one of the side ones. There is only really 2 camera views you get facing forwards like you said. The upper one and the 'shoulder' cam (left or right)

There's also front wing cam and T-cam that's facing backwards.
Shoulder cam is and was always atrocious, even if tolerable before halo obstructed half the view. Why they stuck with it since then is beyond me. That said, the reprehensible angles we're seeing on leclerc's onboard this weekend is another level of trash if you ask me. They should just stick with T-cam and be done with it.

I don't know who really desires to see such onboards or driver eye view that doesn't really give any feel. All that we need to see is what a driver is doing with the wheel and the front of the car positioning on track, preferably with a wide angle lens. What we are getting in this particular case is a cropped view that shows really nothing. Heck, just put an iPhone there!
