this is SAI from FP2, his fastest quali sim and fastest race sim lap, but you can tell in the same lap too, it's about 24kph from main straight (no DRS) to 2nd straight (with DRS).

Depends what engine mode they run aswell though, especially when comparing with other teams.

Probably worth looking at the data after qualifying when the cars are actually running their 'true pace'

top end speed is more aero than engine, there's also no visible clipping difference, except maybe a tiny bit more this year. Steepness of rpm curve is also very close. I think Ferrari is following similar program YoY regarding engine modes.

Anyway quali is likely wet so unlikely to give much indication since they probably won't use DRS if it's wet.

No rain at the moment and there seems to be a chance of a dry qualifying. Fingers crossed. I want to see the potential of the cars on this track.

yes they do, and smaller than they had last year as well. For all we say that the car is crap it really has improved a lot from last year anyway.

Great job RBR to be fair.

Wouldn't that decrease the 'DRS efficiency' since they are dropping less drag when opening

Looking at the basic radar, there is a light band of rain south of the track, around Oxford at the minute, and there is heavier rain to the North of Sailsbury (west of Oxford) but that seems to be on a slightly different track. I think the rain to watch is the bit around Reading which is likely to hit the circuit. How quickly im not sure, but theres a hour and 40minutes until the end of Qualifying so anyones guess.

I do think itll be mostly dry however.

Net gain must be higher. Most of the time drs is closed.

Again Ferrari conservative on the tyre selection in mixed conditions. I've expressed my concerns with this several times this season. RBR expecting rain 15:10. Could be a crucial decision.

Still damp off line

Sainz got his lap time in just in time. Hoping for a dry Q3 to see Charles maybe fight for pole!
