JA confirms all focus being shifted to next year
what I am hearing is some AI talking over the video with JA and Merc.

Just remember guys it doesn't mean parts under production will suddenly be canceled. Whatever was in the pipeline most likely will be put on the car. It's only further development work from whenever JA called the deadline will stop

I thought some members of the team wanted a date put on the development for next years car....

Its likely there will still be 2023 development going on. Bound to be a few pieces that make its way onto the car - even if its just for testing or aero correlation before next year.

I do imagine there will be a re-designed chassis next year. Without the SIS structure where it is at present to allow them to run the midwing originally.

How can Mercedes be confident enough to stop developing the W14 when they clearly haven't found a solution for the W14's underlying issues (drag, rear downforce, ride height and suspension compliance), particularly as they've revealed correlation issues earlier this season.

Unless they have decided to give up on the ethos of that car and go down a different path altogether?

Or the changes would be too time consuming / expensive to fix on the years car, better to start with a clean slate

this is the biggest problem with the budget cap for the top teams. at least back before 2020 those who have the resources could push to develop their car to challenge the leader. now even if they could they are hamstrung by the cap, leaving red bull clear to cruise to the wdc/wcc.

Lewis words kinda imply that the team should straight up copy others like Mclaren. And that the team does not know the exact direction to take

I think his words imply that they are not copying anyone. This is intriguing in the interest of seeing things that have not been seen before.

Mercedes has bring so many new parts this year obviously it has to stop

RBR and Aston are also switching to 2024, Ferrari too I think

The worst was Aston. Almost no new parts and sinking in the hierarchy despite the extra CFD

It's the same for everyone though, an acknowledged part of cost cap and new regs, to prevent the biggest budget wiping out all competitors.

The key to it all is putting very good ideas into wind tunnel, else it achieves nothing but wasted allocation of cash/cfd/tunnel runs, all squandered in the wrong direction.

We will see the same every year, because there are genuine gains to be had by moving to next year early, especially lower down the grid.

Seems clueless to what’s going on. Guess that’s what happens when you have a businessman running the team.

Was it all down to the team boss or what was left when he moved in? And a much faster engine than others making up for a aero deficit?

No knocking them as they have the titles, but worth considering.

Just seems that fans have lost a bit of faith in Mercedes. Hence them needing to issue letters to the fans after a short run of moderate performances and no wins.

Is Toto and the team out of their depth with the new regulations? Do people still have the faith in them to deliver?
We seen 2 years on concepts that haven’t worked, despite acknowledging it was a dud last year. There’s been promises of upgrades that haven’t materialised. (Where was the big silverstone upgrade?) The PR just seems like it’s giving the fans the things they want to hear but it never turns up.

Someone really needs to go back and do a timeline of the press releases and team boss interviews (and drivers as they often contradict what the team says) and see what’s been going on in a bigger picture
