Its not in any way comparable to the Mercedes Mid-Wing apart from the fact that it is shaped in an a aerofoil, likely to get cleaner air in to the inlet.

The only common feature really is the leading edge shape which is the same due to both pieces of bodywork being up against the front of the sidepod bodywork regulation box

The longer I look at it, the more significant the upgrade package appears. I think it's just the livery is really hiding how much things have changed. The inlet is practically wafer thin compared to the beginning of the season. The lower lip of the inlet also has a swept back profile.

Might look like it because its covered but its highly unlikely to have changed. They would have no real reason to change

This is basical a zero pod turned 90 degrees. Not a copy of course, but the philosophy of reducing sidepod drag as much as possible is there, but at 90 degrees there is the outwash driving benefit.
I say at least half a second faster.

This looks to me like a much more refined and integrated version of the mercedes "zero pod wing thing".

It's not the same, but does probably similar things in ceating a vortex. And the vortex created by the RedBull inlet is not from the lip itself but that that little corner notch near the rear-view mirrors.

Exactly, I've noted the same before on here too. AN commented in complimentary fashion when that Ferrari was contemporary as to how good that solution was. It obviously drove a longer term thought process within the team approach to evolve this area, particularly the route getting around the top SIP structure and how that's integrated.

It is checo’s car, on the first picture posted yesterday you can see the 1 to the “side” of the nose (so this is the 1 1 car, not the 1 that would have it dead center, so that would point to aero rake mounting as Checo usually does that testing this year.
