Not according to the revised rules from 2022. If the attacking car on the inside has a significant overlap the defending driver on the outside has to leave enough room or be seen at fault. Merc should really appeal this penalty.

Look no further than Hangary last week. Turn 1 lap 1. If Hamilton kept his foot in like Perez i do wonder if RB fans would be blaming Max for having the "onus"?
That's Hamilton's corner. He was significantly alongside going in and Perez tried to squeeze the line.organic wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 18:47https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydignUU ... e=youtu.beInsaneX_Badger wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 18:44From that angle it doesn't look good, we need the before and also onboard to see Lewis steering inputs.organic wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 18:41If anyone is interested in seeing a replay

Lewis had loads of room today. Refer the pics and video.Hammerfist wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 19:00Not according to the revised rules from 2022. Too many times RB is getting away with it.AMG.Tzan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 18:59Hmmm yes
Yet when Verstapen was divebombing down the inside and everyone else had to take avoiding action it was ok! Can’t count how many times Hamilton alone had to take avoiding action against an understeering Verstapen on the inside…
For some reason Red Bull drivers (and Red Bull fans probably) can’t accept getting overtaken and they always try closing the door even if the other driver is alongside them and if there’s a crash it isn’t their fault!

Honestly Perez is a terrorist, look at his moves at Silverstone last year when he fought for P2... He always defend in the same way. Never seen Alonso for example defend like this.
Go ahead and mention some examples of “Lewis understeering into others”Willy wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 19:00I didn't say it was ok for Max to do so. He has been rightly punished when he was the transgressor. Lewis has this habit of understeering into another car which is always a problem.AMG.Tzan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 18:59Hmmm yes

Wasn't it the same case in Brazil last year when Max was inside?Just_a_fan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 19:01That's Hamilton's corner. From that angle it doesn't look good, we need the before and also onboard to see Lewis steering inputs.
Well it was a very different type of corner and the two lines different, but if one wishes to drag up incomparable incidents, most people seemed to think that was a racing incident at the time, as I remember. I though it a bit of a dive bomb, hence why it's a different and incomparable incident. There was no dive bomb today - Perez was slow and Hamilton drove up alongside him, at which point Perez took a line that isn't the usual line through that corner - he pinched across.Willy wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 19:07Wasn't it the same case in Brazil last year when Max was inside?Just_a_fan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 19:01That's Hamilton's corner. It was thrown for argument sake and I fully expected a defensive reply. It's exact same position Red Bull fans are taking. Hope you got the point.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 19:16Well it was a very different type of corner and the two lines different, but if one wishes to drag up incomparable incidents, most people seemed to think that was a racing incident at the time, as I remember. sorry, what did he pinch? he was right on the curb on the exit, the only pinching was from understeering Lewis who tried to push Perez into submission by classically running him out of space on the exit, so, was Perez along side or not? was he entitled to space on the exit or not?Just_a_fan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2023, 19:16Well it was a very different type of corner and the two lines different, but if one wishes to drag up incomparable incidents, most people seemed to think that was a racing incident at the time, as I remember.
