If anyone is within 1 second off you, you lose a spot on the straight.

I'm quite surprised they are so bad.

They should just retire the car. Way too much downforce. Better next time.

It's just come at tge wrong time in the upgrade cycle. But, I can live with it after the last few races.

Note to self: don’t watch the race at Monza.

How was the car fast on the straights at silverstone?
Everyone was on high downforce setups on silverstone. Didn't make much of a difference with the others. Here, they have gone for high df package while everyone has gone for low df. The difference is astonishing though. It's crazy that it is this bad. Even with drs they are barely getting the speeds the others are getting without drs.

Though...I'm sure even they are surprised how bad the car is out there.

They will have a low downforce configuration for Monza.

Its painfully obvious there was a mistake with the set up. Its not normal to be that much slow compared to yesterday.

In clear air the car is not bad but it's impossible to defend if you are behind someone. Anyone that slows you down allows people behind you to overtake with DRS and straightline speed.

The only part of the track we have an advantage over the cars around us, we can't use the pace because we're stuck behind slower cars, but they keep breezing by us on the straights.

It was a huge mistake to get a high downforce set up gambling that it might rain. I have no idea who inside Mclaren thought they would get away with that.

Did they go for this setup because they expected rain or because they didn’t have the parts for a low DF configuration? My guess is that it’s the first option because they weren’t as bad yesterday, but either way it’s just embarrassing.

They don't have parts for low downforce, they don't exist yet. They prioritised fixing the car with the recent upgrades. Plan is to now get one ready for Monza.

It wasn't a decision. They don't have a low downforce package because they focused all their resources into getting the parts for the austrian upgrade package. All things considered, it was the right choice. We got 2 podiums because of it.

Maybe if it rains heavily it might turn around but it would have to be monumental drive from Lando who is demoralized. The car is effectively last atm.
